Default MPG's with 5.0

Hello everybody. Just signed up today, although I bought my first new F150 about 7 months ago and have been lurking and learning on here. So far I have 20000 miles on mine in that time and it has been trouble free, to say I really like my truck would be an understatement. It has been trouble free and a joy to drive. It's a 2011 F150 XLT Screw, 5.0, 3:31 rear end, trailer towing package, and is Red Candy. I'm self employed and use my truck for work so it gets a lot of miles put on it during the week as you can see. The only thing other then seat covers for protection is a Paragon bed cover to help keep my tools secure, oh and a electric lock for the tail gate.

I see a lot of people come on here and ask about fuel mileage on these trucks and wanted to post a pic from this weeks travels. My lifetime average is 19.1. Most of my driving is Highway and Interstate with some city and back roads thrown in for good measure. Relatively flat, some rolling hills as I live in Texas.

Man I see all these mileage threads bragging about getting good mileage and it makes me jealous. So far mines only getting 17. Now we have lots of rolling hills plus I've had my foot in it quite a bit also. I got 3.73's outback too so maybe thats putting a hurting on the mileage. I expect it to get better as it gets broken in. Only 2500 on it today.

I've got a 2011 FX4 super crew with 6.5 bed and I'm only getting 15.5L/100km ... I think that equates out to about 15 or 16 mpg...not as great as some of the others but I can't complain. My truck is heavier than most and I believe I've got the 3.73 gears..

My driving is mixed city and highway.

I've had other vehicles that were in the same range and they weren't as heavy as the truck..

The only complaint I have is that I can't fill to full from empty since pay at the pump here goes up to $150 if you use debit..but that's not the trucks fault.. I just end up filling from 1/4 tank.

I'm getting 17.3 mpg hand-calculated since 42 miles on the clock. Pretty even mix of city/hwy. Only 2600 miles on it so far. 3.73 of course.

My truck with 3.73, 5.0, 6.5box Screw is rated in Canada for 27 mpg. The same truck with 3.55 gears is rated for 26 mpg.
You should google what the govt test for rating highway fuel mileage is. In Canada it is something like 20 min drive @ 80kmh (50mph) with 2 stops.
Who drives like this on the highway except farmers and little old men? I mean REALLY?
Also I discovered that the trucks sold in Canada still calculate fuel mileage based on the US gallon. 3.78 litres compared to 4.54 litres for the Cdn gallon. So if you want a 20% increase in fuel mileage - just calculate your consumption in Canadian gallons!

Very rarely has mine seen the highway YET, but last time it did I managed 24.7 MPG from Oklahoma City to Norman! I took a pic of fuel history past 30 mins too for the non-belivers and will post if I need to, lol

Unfortunately, I do 99% city driving and in a college town I get about 14 MPG. Stop lights every .4 miles sucks and pisses me off just thinking about it.

Truck has like 1k miles. 3.73s. FX4. Supercrew. Factory 20" wheels
