I know its not all cases but I would bet often someone will say they got better mileage than you just so they can rub it in. When in actuality, they don't get the good or only got that mileage once going downhill with a tail wind.
This is what I was saying about the other side of this matter. Guy's who say there getting very poor mpg. I have seen guy's "brag" about their trucks getting very poor milage like it's a macho thing to have a big truck that sucks gas.
I notice this more on a Dodge site. I also have a 04 Ram 1500 std. cab 2wd with the 4.7 auto that my son drives. When I was driving it, the milage around town and to work was allways 14 to 14.5 mpg, sometimes a little better. On one drive up into Oklahoma I got 20.1 @ about 65 mph in mild fall weather without the air on.
But there are guys constantly saying they only get 11-12 mpg out of the same truck. No matter how hard I drove that Dodge I never saw worse than 13.5 mpg. Thay're either beating the sh_t out of their trucks, figuring the milage wrong, or flat out lying.

Window decals and bumper stickers will definitely add 2- 3 mpg. Why, a K&N decal ALONE is worth that much improvement!

Seriously though...come on. MPG threads are like "what oil should I use?" threads. Lots of opinions....lots of 'experts'. Very little empirical data.
And MPG threads in truck forums is sort of insane anyway. If anyone ever really, all bullsh*t aside, got anywhere close to 20 mpg....well, my first inclination is to call b.s., by second is to offer congratulations. Now here is your cookie and your gold star.

So if a truck gets anywhere near 20mpg you call bs? City or Hwy? cause you can easily get 20+ Hwy!

True..........I have the sane drivetrain as Rok and I get 20 pretty easily if I keep her rolling and lay off the right pedal. Am I lying? Nah.

I understand the fact that Wiki is a site created by multiple posters who can post undocumented data as easily as the truth. However, I believe that if you look at the numbers in my post, you will find that they are, in fact, accurate numbers available in any "real" scientific journal. Wiki aside, all I was doing was pointing out the futility of argueing about individual MPG figures. Prolly almost as useless as argueing about using Wiki as a valid source.

AND FOR THE HATERS OUT THERE, I WANT TO STATE THAT I'M GETTING 17.5 MPG AVERAGE IN MY '09 XLT SCAB 4x2 WITH THE 4.6/3.55 OVER NEARLY 18,000 MILES. OF COURSE, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY....AND YEAH, MY CPU CALCS ARE HIGH BY APPROX 0.5-1.0 MPG. CAN YA HEAR ME NOW?

my 2010 scab w 4.6 3v /3.55LS gets roughly 16.5 to 17.5 (hand calculated).
Only have 3600 miles on it mixed highway /city. so I would say 17mpg.
Out of all my trucks i've owned the best would be around 22-23mpg on a straight hwy drive on vacation. Other than that I have never known personally anyone to get the mid to upper 20's.

My wifes Escape w/v6 only averages 21mpg.

This sounds about right and seems very honest. I like this post.

Got about 3000 miles of mixed but mostly city driving in my 5.4 4x4 V8 Screw w/3.55LS and I'm getting about 15mpg so far. I'm hoping it increases some as I do a little more highway driving in the future, but I am in the Ford EPA mpg bracket so I really cant complain.

You forgot to tell everyone that you were driving a Honda
