I have the 5.4, 3.55 gears 6.5 bed crew cab as you seen in the picture
and I get 13.5 MPG working my truck everyday in 50% city 50% highway driving. It has a utility cap on it, sometimes a 24' ladder and a bed full of tools. I am very happy to get 13.5! I drove an F250 for 13 years with a utility cap etc.. and got 9 MPG average. I am not a lead foot but I do roll the throttle on when needed!
If I can get 13.5 then you folks with an empty truck bed should be in the 14-16 MPG average range. If you are in the 11-12 MPG range then somethings out of wack.
I must add that until I had about 7500 miles on her I was getting under 13 MPG.

 

our 2010 is getting about 16-17 on long strait trips back from cali and my 04 with the gotts mod and nothing else got 17.4 in the hills with the ac on. I think a lot of it has to do with your engine. Sometimes the way its broken in or built can cause a 1-2 mpg discrepancy between two engines of the same size

 

Um no Honda here! Havent owned one since i was 18. Be 26 in 1 1/2 weeks! It surprised the $h** out of me! I am one to doubt these peoples high mpg claims usually but now i wont question again! I even showed my calculations to my wife. She was shocked as well! I even have the gas receipt too. Shoulda taken a pic of the reciept next to the odometer and my wifes phone showing date and time to verify everything! But then people still would doubt so i said the hell with it! I know what i saw and thats fine with me!
