Mind Confusion.. Please Help
OK, I have been thinking about this scenario for a bit now and can’t seem to find a solid answer or a route to go down. Here is my story:
I purchased a 2010 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCab 5.4 litre FFV 4X4 last year. I still currently owe 28k on it. I do not drive it much as in almost a year now I have only put $5500 miles on it. The only use this truck gets is the occasional around town driving, winter beater, Home Depot King, and basic hauling stuff. Essentially I moved into a new house, and needed a truck to do the yearly deeds.
So far the truck has been good to me, although there are a few things that I have stuck in my head now and I cant seem to make my mind up:
1. I just realized (I know a year later) I got the truck with the 3:31 gear ratio, which in turn answers my questions and issues with the 6 Speed Auto always scavenging (Hunting) for gear. Although I do not tow anything, the most I haul is a few thousand pounds.
2. Im second guessing my purchase and thinking I should have gotten an older beater for this purpose. So in this case I would pay down the truck, sell it and get something that is much more affordable.
3. At the same time, my mouth salivates when I realized the 2011 trucks will have the 5.0 and the EB motor. So this is going against everything in #2 I was also thinking, to trade the truck in, get the same thing essentially except with the newer EB motor, 3.73 gear, some nicer seats, basically whole nine yards, tow package, all that good stuff.
4. This last option is a tuff one to swallow I guess. I don’t know why. I was thinking just keeping the truck, upgrade the seats, sound, wheels, tires, gears, and essentially that would do it for me.
What do you guys think?
1. Sell the truck and get something older
2. Trade the truck for the newer models
3. Keep the truck and spend the money to do the upgrades
Any ideas are welcome, and thank you.

wow your kind of all over the place there. just a guess without looking it up on blue book i would think you would take a pretty good hit at the dealer trying to trade it in. but if money is not an issue go for it and get what you want. that kind of goes against your point of wanting something more affordable though so not sure about your situation. imo i think the best money deal would be to just keep the truck and fix it up as you have the money but that does get pretty costly with the things your wanting to do. sorry im not much help, just do what makes you happy
I have a Mitsubishi EVO X, not really as a daily driver; I use the truck during the winter for the most part. If its nice out ill take the EVO out. Its kinda of a trade between the 2.
The ultimate plan was to keep the truck until it dies. The EVO is for fun. Although, I can’t say I have a lot of fun in the truck. I feel as it is so sluggish, I have to put my foot to the floor to get it moving. Of course im exaggerating a bit, but you get the point.
This is what bothers me about the truck:
1. Gearing (Would like 3:73)
2. Sluggish (Foot to Floor = the little train that could) probably due to gearing
3. Sound (Need to put a double din in there. Im thinking a gps with a 4 channel amp to power speakers, I don’t want a sub)
4. Seats (After a year, I would much rather the black leather interior, kinda tired of the stone beige cloth)
5. No fog lights (Would be nice, thought I can live without them)
6. No Hitch (Same as number 5) would only tow stuff a couple times out of the year
Before anyone says it let me clear this up: Yes I know I should have done my homework when I got the truck, or better yet just got what I wanted up front. But I didn’t, so now im here.
The big questions hear is; is it worth to upgrade these components, or say F** it and pick up a new truck with everything I want.

I say dump it and buy a new one. You will take a hit on your trade or sell but ford has some low interest rates and you will be happier knowing you got what you want.
Quit screwing around and do it brother.....

maybe go talk to a dealer and see what they can do as far as what they give you for your trade and what it would cost to get what you want. then if the payment is what you want go for it, if not go home and upgrade over time
Trade in for the truck of your dreams (3.73 ecoboost) and sell the Evo. Truck will give you lots of zip, and you save bucks on two vehicle ownership, unless you have a mate using the second vehicle...
