Sounds like I may be the only one that is averaging exactly what the computer says I am. I usually check the math about once a month. To the OP....like someone else said...dont sweat it until you get some miles on her. The mpg will improve as the motor breaks in.

Your gear ratio will affect your MPG won't it? I have a 3.15 gear ratio with no LS on a 2010 Lariat, short box, with 20" wheels and get 21 mpg on the highway (flat). 14 mpg in town.

well iam all over that and i do understand its a big truck. but when my work truck a 1997 454 chevy 2500 4x4 with a 11 foot utility box with a latter rack and latter's on it loaded down to the gills with almost 200k on the clock gets better milage than my new (full of technology) truck there is a problem in my book! i might be wrong but did not ford have denis leery doing some commercials how ford was like crazy smart and redesign the truck to get way better gas milage. me personally i would like to see it in what i bought! hell my dads 1970 f-250 ranger (camper special) gets same milage as me. with his frig-en over cab camper on there hes pullin in 12/13 mpg?

so iam not trying to start ****** i am just disappointed in ford!
sorry for the rant

I realize these are big heavy trucks, but I chose my Ford for best fuel economy as my Dodge failed miserably in that area. I'm driving the 4.6 3 valve and have not been disappointed in fuel consumption. Now have 5200 miles and average 18-19 mpg in mixed. Don't do a lot of stop and go or hot rod starts as that what kills the mileage. Love this thing, although Ford still can't build transmissions.

I was talking about a zero-mile, NEW truck as the thread implied. We all know how to read the manual as far as how the calculations are done after the INITIAL fill up....
The initial number IS pre-set into the ECU, believe me....I know this for a fact. Well, a 'fact' as far as a Ford service manager would know.
