Default Miles to empty reading not right.

Yesterday after dealership service because check engine light staying on, computer was reset. today I did a complete gas fill up, and miles to empty stopped rising at 350 miles. Present reading is 18.1 MPG which should give a reading of about 460 miles. guess it's back for another service call.

Ok, not trying to be a butt head but, you would really take in your truck for this reason? I think you should run a couple of tanks through it and see if it comes around. You said they reset hour ecm.

You need to drive it some. If they reset everything, miles to empty has no old history to work with. Smaller tank, 350 isn't that far off, no?

could be worse. my DTE is saying 600 and my gauge is pinned at full. noticed this at lunch. I've probably got 3/4 tank in it.

They reset the computer. No old history to work off of now. Hooked up the IDS to my truck a month ago, same deal everything reset. Now everything is back where it was before

I have a related problem with my truck. It never fails, when I gas up, the pump reads at least a gallon more than the display says was consumed. This obviously impacts the MPG and miles to empty calculations. With technology what it is today, there is really no excuse for these displays to be inaccurate.

Come on, Ford

Some of you are expecting perfection from something that is not perfect.
Clearly a first world problem, out by one gallon, really.

Guess these are hit or miss..I never fully trusted gas mileage calculator on the dash. .with my 150..it's been off no more than a 2/10th of a gallon in comparing to manual calculations. .I don't bother with them anymore since it's always been that close...
Now, the other car..it's Luckey to be within 3 to 5 mpg..total joke

when my truck was in the shop the last few times my loaners had less than 10 miles on them. All of them said approx. 350 miles to empty.
I put about 200 miles on 2 of them and half way through the tank it seemed to figure out what it needed to know to correct itself.
