I drive a 2011, 3.5 L EcoBoost with 330,000 Km (about 206,000 Miles). Yesterday I had a "Mechanic" error message flash on my dashboard. Just prior to this message my transmission dropped from 3rd gear to 1st gear and heard the engine suddenly rev high. I pulled over and stopped. The screen came on with a reset option, which didn't seem to work. The issue resolved itself quickly and I was able to drive on. No problem since. What happened and will this happen again? Take it to the dealer?
