F150 will only shift between 3 and 5 gear

F150 will only shift between 3 and 5 gear
Started drive my 2011 F-150 XLT with the 5 liter engine and it reved high in first gear and then shifted to 3 gear. I t won't downshift until I come to a complete stop. The speedometer doesn't register and the the odometer show ------. Took it to the local Ford dealer and apparently some cable that goes into the transmission is bad. They determined that from the symptoms without any testing. The cable is on back order and it could take months according to the dealer. Does this sound like it could be right?

And sometimes they call that "lead frame connector", which makes it sound like a cable. It isn't.

Usually I pull over, turn the truck completely off and it resets back to normal.
It is obviously an intermittent problem and I believe it is a wiring harness, or sensor issue....that being said it throw P0721 Output Speed Sensor Code.
I have researched and according to online sources ya have to drop the pan and pull the leadframe and valve body off.......ug, Probably wouldn't hurt to check all the related fuses and relays BEFORE ya crawl under.....js
