Max tow package

Max tow package
What do I look for on a F150 sticker to ensure that it has the max tow package? I am looking at Ecoboost and 5.0 and even the 6.2.
We are looking to upgrade our 2001 F150 5.4 and having a hard time figuring out what to look for.
The salesman have told us a truck has the max tow package but when I look the cargo max is only 1100 - 1300 lbs and the total showing is 7200 or 7700 lbs. They have the integrated brake controller but not sure if that is a full proof way of knowing.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi love2rvcamp, welcome to the forum!
I think the easiest way to identify a max tow truck is the huge tow mirrors. Of course it's not conclusive, as I think you can order those mirrors without the max tow package, but I've never seen one. The window sticker will show the "Max Trailer Tow" package. This package is not available with the 5.0L V8 engine; only the EcoBoost and 6.2L V8.
With the fuel economy coming from the 5.0L and EcoBoost engines I can't figure out why anyone would want the 6.2L engine. If the cost of fuel matters to you at all I'd strongly consider the 5.0L or EB.

Inebriated 4 ur safety
The Max Tow package only come with the Ecoboost or 6.2L, not the 5.0. It will say it on the sticker under Optional Equipment. Max tow also gives you 1900 payload capacity minus any weight for other options.
This is not my truck's sticker. I just found it off the internet as an example.

Not exactly; max tow trucks have GVWRs that vary between 7,500-7,700 lbs. It varies by cab configuration, engine, and drive. See the attached for exact figures. Mine is 7,650.

I want to go on record that it's completely stupid not to have the max tow as an option on the 5.0 as it's rated higher than the 5.4 & that had max tow available when it was in these trucks. /rant
About the only thing that gets you added payload is the heavy duty payload pkg which upgrades the rear axle, wheels go to 7 lugs & the frame is beefed up the the rear but is only available in select configurations and trim levels.

how much are you looking at towing?
to get the full advertised 11,500lb rating you're going to need the max payload/tow 7lug f150, so if it has 7 lug wheels, you're in business.
Make sure you look for yourself and do the homework when it comes to options etc.
most salesman don't know their **** from hole in the ground and just want a sale. they'll tell your truck will make you breakfast if thats what it will take to get you to buy!

Agreed salesman will say anything. I was agruing with them on payload. He told us that the cargo limit number did not include the tongue weight. He told us this one had the max tow package:

We have yet to see one that said max tow package on the window sticker. We have seen rear axels of 3.31, few 3.73. GVWR weights mostly 7100 and 7200, did see one 7350 that has been the highest.
We are towing a 2008 Rockwood 8313SS, weight loaded is around 8000lbs, tongue weight 800-850.
