MAP Cleaning
I have a 2012 3.5 Eco SCREW Lariat with 64,xxx miles.
Been a great daily driver with no real issues. Been following all normal maintenance. Have replaced plugs at 30 and 60k. Only modification would be a weep hole - if that is a modification.
However I have never cleaned my MAPs. Looks like a pretty straightforward and easy job.
Currently getting around 15ish city driving and 19ish highway. Do more city driving.
Assuming it wouldn't hurt to clean them but wanted to get thoughts.
Thanks

I imagine you won't gain/harm anything from cleaning them, since normal daily driving shouldn't effect them. Unlike a MAF which tend to foul up as they get dirty, MAPs are simply pressure transducers and are pretty robust. My experience is that they are fairly immune to dirt and debris, and have no mechanisms which foul or become contaminated under normal conditions.
That being said, i usually clean my MAF once a year when I change my air filter because it is easy and cheap to do. I don't have MAPs on my 5.0, so I don't know how involved a process it is to remove and clean them, but if it was as easy as the MAF, I would probably do it. Then again, if it took more than 5 minutes, I wouldn't worry about it.

Pulled them last night and cleaned them.
The first two looked good. The one under the shroud was a bit dirty but nothing like I have seen in videos.
Seems to idle a little smoother. Maybe that is in my head. But a dandelion floaty thing popped out when I removed it. But not sure if it was stuck to MAP or just on top of engine

All this MAF/MAP talk inspired me to clean my MAF. 2 x 20 Torx screws and a quick spray of CRC MAF cleaner. 5 minutes of work and I definitely feel the acceleration smoothing out and a better idle. I’m the second owner at 160K miles and I’m positive it had the original plugs. Air filter was black as well. All together that 4.6L is starting to get a few of its ponies back.
@thx10 I just cleaned my MAP [on top of air intake] and 2 MAF's a few days ago. 3.5L Ecoboost.
[1] I pulled the negative battery cable.
[2] Sprayed each with throttle body cleaner.
[3] Installed oil separator.
[4] Replaced negative battery cable.
[5] Test drive.
