Maintenance Item
I am the same way, as far as checking the pressures and torques. The first night I got my new 2010 Platinum home and tires cooled I checked the pressures and the were all different and all over inflated. 5-6 PSI. dEvery vehicle I have owned and taken somewhere to have tires installed/ R&B'd, new whatever. No one does it right. When I brought my new Harley home in 2008 the front tire was at 10 PSI (20 low) and the rear was down 10 psi. Its just something you have to do if you care. I have not checked the lug torques yet but assumed they would be good from the factory. I always check after a service. I wish I had my own balancer and I would not have to have anyone touch my stuff. It does not matter what dealer or service shop no one cares about your stuff like you do. It good to know I am not the only one who checks this stuff.
Checked ours too when we got the truck. Think I read somewhere that whenever you have the lug nuts removed the torque should be rechecked after driving 50(??) miles or so.
Even dealerships that do a good job can have one or two idiots - our MDX was delivered with tire pressures that were way off and no two were the same. Next service visit I mentioned it to the service manager, same thing, they came back all different. And I checked them with 3 different high quality gauges. Next service visit I had them write on the service ticket NOT to adjust the air pressure in the tires and I taped the caps on with some stretch tape . . . came back with the air pressures wrong, some tape removed, some screwed up under the cap.
I bought some LOCKING tire valve caps but thankfully haven't seen how they'll handle them, they probably will have the tire guy install all new valve stems so they can be sure to screw up the pressure.
