Default Magnaflow 15461

Just had the Magnaflow cat back 15461 installed on my 5.0. Love the sound! Just wondering if anyone else has it installed on theirs One change I noticed is it idles at about 500RPM now instead of 8-900RPM.

I have the same one. It is awesome. Sounds mean under heavy acceleration, but is tame when you drive normally. My MPG is down big because I like to hear it :-)

My dad has that one on his 6.2. Sounds mean but I don't think it's loud enough outside for the drone it transmits inside. I'd throw an extra resonator on there to tame it down a bit.

your idle is lower because you have less backpressure due to it being a single in/DUAL OUT

Dumb question but,

Will this have any negative impacts on the engine?

Man, thats the one I was going to get, but decided to just buy 12198 muffler only and get the pipes welded on. I might run same setup though dual out behind rear tire.... that or 90 degrees out each tire. Since I am just buying muffler and tell them to take off my resinator and then probably getting 3" piping welded on... is this the same set up as a kit like you got with the 15461, but welded instead right? Should I tell them to do that 304 steel piping, thats the best right? Thanks!!

nah you should be good, it might lead to a slight decrease in performance but its negligible

Less back pressure usually leads to an increase in performance.

Removed the resonator and now the exhaust sounds really good and loud, better gas mileage and more power

What is the purpose of the resonator? I was crawling under my new EB and noticed a can like thing under the passenger side as well as something that looked like it was a mesh bulge just before the muffler. What is the purpose of the mesh thingie? Flex joint.
This is on a supercrew with full size box.
