It does change a bit.

When I got the truck the dealership had it filled to 599 to empty. I've filled up the truck twice and can't get the reading to 599. I wonder if there is a trick to it.

Do most reset the avg mile back to zero or do you just fill up and keep going with the avg already on the readout?

Does it make a difference?

So far, my lowest reading is 13 mpg by hand.

Because I haven't put any highway miles on it yet after it reset, so it is pretty low. However, it still seems really low at 12.9 and I am wondering if it is because of the CAI.

I am not trying to say that was the cause...

You guys are doing pretty well! Last winter I had an average of 9mpg until I got my Edge, then it went to 11. I lived 3 miles from school and drove there 5 times a week, this also includes the 15minutes it took to warm the truck up. (School was in Fairbanks, multiple -20 days, +10 is t-shirt weather)

The worse I have ever seen was 15.5 hand calculated, and that was idling around half the day in parking lots with air running in 100 deg. Texas heat. I usually average 16 to 17 mpg. My truck is a 2010 STX SC 2wd 4.6 2v.
