The 6.2 gets lower fuel economy and doesn't have the cool modern tech like electric power steering. It also doesn't make that much more power than the 5.0, especially the newer 5.0. In fact, the Mustang version makes more power than the 6.2. So I'm honestly not real sure why people go bonkers over the 6.2.
Having said all that... it is cool to have a rare truck and you are obviously happy and THAT is what matters! Congrats!

Never tried an electric power steering setup, but my previous 2009 Platinum had the hydraulic PS and I had no complaints with its performance.
Since I wasn't even looking at a "newer" 5.0 to begin with, that's not a valid comparison (heck, I REALLY want a 2015+ F-150, but that's for the distant future). Not even sure why a Mustang 5.0 is being compared here; it's Apples and Venus. From just an F-150 point of view, of all its available engine options, the 6.2L is superior in every way to the other peer engines anecdotally, except in gas mileage.
In the end, I lean heavily towards power/performance over fuel mileage (would prefer both, but this is an imperfect world), so the 6.2L is the obvious choice for me.

I did actually appreciate the sheer amount of rear view visibility that the tow mirrors provided. And I was surprised that it has puddle lights as I was under the impression that function was not available on tow mirrors; or maybe I confused that lack of feature with the 2013+ PowerScope mirrors (or at least, the 1A Auto versions).
But with the larger mirrors, headlight glare at night was very pronounced and made me miss the auto-dimming feature of the standard-sized mirrors that were on my 2009 Platinum. Still, I may hold off on swapping to standard-sized mirrors for now...

I stumbled on a 6.2l as well. It is perfect. They last forever. Very proven in the f250s and make fantastic power. Down low and up too.
Love my 6.2! I have been getting 15-16 mpg the last few tanks and they were in town. Better then my 06 5.4 two wheel drive.

Finally got the truck! Driving the 600 miles back, the 6.2 averaged 15 MPG @ 80-90 MPH. If I drove slower, the mileage would get better, but no way would I drive 65 throughout that long trip. FYI, it does have a tonneau cover.

And yea, this 6.2 mated to the 6-speed actually gets better gas mileage than my 2001 5.4 SCrew, 2004 5.4 SCrew, 2003 4.6 Expy, and my current 2004 5.4 Expy.

How's she goin' eh?
I'm sure the highway mileage will be better. City, I feel will be a different story. I find with my truck and driving habits I bump it up a couple mph just to put it into 6th. I have to keep reminding myself to just leave it in 5th

Yes I wouldn't trade mine in for anything. That engine is just sweet! The stock exhaust sounds great as well. I would love to put a Borla on it sometime. With the 3.73's it gets up and goes almost effortlessly. Can't wait to see what it is like with a tune as well. Apparently the 6.2 is very very torque limited by the factory tune up until 4K.
One thing I did for my truck is the rear sway bar from hellwig. It is a must! it makes the big truck feel much much smaller. Do a search on here for the hellwig rear sway bar and you will see nothing but amazing praise for it!
Congrats on your rare find. Enjoy all those 6.2L of pure fun

I gunned it for the very first time yesterday when I was slowly creeping into a turn lane when there was room behind the car in front of me and I saw the light turn yellow...
OMFG, it seemed it went into BEAST mode. No doubt about it: this '11 6.2 Platinum kicks my previous '09 5.4 Platinum to the curb. I had a BMW 335i (3.5L straight six twin turbo) and the low end seat-of-the-pants rush this heavy 6.2 F-150 has will give that much lighter sedan a run for its money on the street (highway is a different story of course).

And the comment on being able to afford it - well, yeah, at 100,000 miles after someone else used it for a few years.
I can afford to go buy an old Mercedes or BMW, too. I'm not that interested in appearing to have money I don't to bother doing that, even if I were into those cars.
At your budget, you can probably get a lower mileage Lariat.
It seems that you want to have the exclusivity/luxury/prestige/whatever of the Platinum, though. Like being newlywed to an old trophy wife, there will be things to take care of. If you'd rather spend more for some different color seat covers and a decal on the tailgate, go for it.
What you could also do is get a Lariat or XL or XLT and just put a Platinum tailgate on the truck. Just make sure you drive faster than everyone so they can't see the crank windows at work
This stuff cracks me up - go buy an old, used, high mileage luxury vehicle then act like you're ballin. Don't get it.
I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to pick, OP.

Aw heck, we can do BETTER! Mass transit: buses and subways are the way to go!
Bernie for 2016!
But no, a Lariat is still an display of WEALTH, and we can't have that. XLT's for all!
