Call me crazy too because I bought one.

Seriously, it is small and should do a good job. I've had issues before with kids leaving things behind my fuel door. This will keep gravel/dirt/junk out of my tank.

It's not expensive anyway. The key works well and the cap comes off easily. Best locking gas cap I've ever had.

Why didn't Ford put a gas cap on in the first place?

Bought one too. I've used it for six months and like the peace of mind! Better safe than sorry!

Bought one for my wifes '10 Lariat. SHE insisted !!!!!!

Her reasoning was, that since she travels down a lot of gravel roads, that dust would end up in the fill area, and eventually get into the gas tank, and cause a problem.

Had one on my 2010 and 2012, but after learning more about the capless system Ford invented, and how secure it is, I took my locking cap off --- have not reinstalled it since......It's really nice to just open the outside door, and put the gas nozzle right in -- especially when its REALLY cold, it's much faster!

Same here, I had a locking door (chrome) and it kind of stuck out like a turd in a punch bowl but as you say after reading about the cap-less set up I don't worry about it.

Not like some punk is going to carry around a funnel the exact size needed to be mischievous.

I also have CCTV on my house so if someone does do something stupid I will be able to identify and sue for damages.
