I wanted a cap for two reasons, one being the theft thing already mentioned and two because I take the truck on dirt/gravel roads and didn't like all the dirt/dust that accumulates on and in the filler area without a cap.

Just wondering does anyone have any experience with these caps in the winter time? Worried about road grime/salt/sand and freezing causing the plug to not unlock?

No problems or issues with mine this past winter. Supposedly it was the worst winter on record for our area.

Many vehicles have a hose blocker in them and when I spoke to ford they said their vehicles have had a hose blocker on their vehicles for a number of years now. Which is why im a little confused as to how they stole the gas without damaging something

Thanks. Couple months ago I saw my gas door was open, scared that someone had stolen my gas, but when I turned on the truck the fuel was the same. It scared me a little at the time thinking someone had put sand or something in there, but I saw no residue of sand or anything near the gas cap so I guess they were either walking next to the truck and opened it out of being bored or were gonna steal some gas and didn't know how to get a hose in there or something. Guess I'll go to the local Ford dealership and see if they have any in stock. Would be nice if it came standard.

Is it possible to replace the cap less system with a cap system from a different model or aftermarket kit? I would like to be able to put fuel additives in the tank. Someone mentioned a bypass tube behind the seat. I haven't looked yet to find it but will later today.
