Default Locked Out!

So...went out to the driveway to show my cousin something with the truck. I used the key fob to unlock the doors, put the key in the ignition and turned it over, popped the hood, and shut the driver's side door. I went to the front of the truck, lifted the hood, and realized I needed my flashlight. I walked to the rear side door and it was locked. Duh. Walked back to the driver's side to unlock all the doors and it was locked too! F*ck! So now my truck is outside...RUNNING...while I wait for AAA to come sometime in the next hour.

Lessons learned: 1. Program the keyless entry code and 2. Keep the spare key somewhere OTHER THAN the glovebox.

call the dealer there is a factory code that you have to change when you get the truck. If you did not set it up then they should be able to help

You don't have to change anything. Your truck comes with a factory code that you can use. If you'd like to, you can also set up a personal code. However, the factory code stays programmed in there regardless if you program another one in there or not.

That's weird. My truck will not let me lock the doors if the key is in the ignition and the door's open. it always immediately unlocks. Plus I got the keyless entry pad as well, which is an amazing feature.

I think it is because he left it running when it was shut and locked.

It will only lock if the door is closed with the key in ignition. Close the door and all doors will lock either with truck running or just the key in.

I did something similar once, so I know how you feel.

Mine was at like 1 in the morning after watching new years fireworks downtown Jax from my boat.

After the fireworks I got back to the ramp and backed the trailer down. At some point the doors locked when I was adjusting the trailer depth and I got out, the door locked behind me with the truck running and my trailer in the water blocking the ramp. I couldn't believe it!

Had to call my Mom to come get my wife and take her to our house to get the spare key and bring it back to the ramp. I think I got home at like 3:00am.

Edit: This was in my 2001 F150, didn't have the keypad on the outside.
