Default A Little Help and Advice Please?

Could you guys suggest a year, motor and trans for a F150 I could grab for about 5 g's? I sold the 2012 and where I live I need a 4x4 and the rangers are going to high since they stopped making them. I figured I could get a full size truck for less or the same dollar amount and still end up with about the same mpg! I wanted to ask here since most of you have had several years and my last f150 was in the 70's!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, it's hard to find a truck worth a damn in my area for 5K. Especially a 4x4. But, I do live in the Redneck capital of the world. (Proud of that too) I hope Pennsylvania isn't the same on pricing. I suggest looking in the classifieds of your newspaper for a private seller. Good luck.

Around here a 4x4 that 5k is beat to heck and back. Keep your eyes open and try some auctions.

Thanks guys, I guess what I am looking for is how dependable a certain model, year, motor and tranny is. I have found several in my area believe it or not! I guess I am lucky that country driving and mpg's are very important to the people and they are giving there trucks away. I am finding 2004's with 125,000 for that price!!! but again am I better looking for a 1997 - 2003 or would the 2004 up be better? It isn't a matter of getting something newer if they are not as dependable as an older model. so that is what I was hoping to find out from all of your experiences?
