Default Lights and which wires?

Gang, first, yes I used the search feature and haven't had much luck finding exactly the information I'm searching for. What I want is brighter drop in replacement headlights and matching fog lights. I really don't like the look of different colors. Second, I want to install a light led strip under the tailgate that illuminates when the brakes are pressed. Does anyone know which wires to tap in for this and where to buy a decent quality led bar? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi.

For heads - just use H13 Silverstar Ultras, GE Nighhawk Platinums or PHillips Extreme Power. Fogs - a 9145 bulb in Silverstar or Nighthawk if you can find them, or have a look here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/instal...ighlight=putco

As fer Led strips - I've seen just about all the brands failing at some point - either a Led or two or the entire strip. So I can't recommend one - sorry. Stay away from Recon, though - they are very poor - both in quality and warranty service.

They hook up either to your trailer wiring harness or a taillight harness.

good luck

I agree with mgd on the light bars failing. I bought a putco bar though for my 2011. Little more expensive but I believe it has life time warranty. Mine is just plugged into my 4 pin trailer plug.

I've got a Recon Extreme tailgate light bar, save your money they look great but are junk. As the other poster said above the Putco has good reviews. They plug into your 4-pin trailer hitch and some have a reverse light (goes white in reverse) which require tapping into your reverse light. You can also hard wire it into the trailer hitch harness.

What width do we order? The 48 or the 60? I am not at my truck to measure right now. Any comments to the headlights and fogs other than the original post or am I wasting my money?

60" the 48" or 50" is designed for SUV type vehicles. 60" inch is for our full size trucks.

I didn't bother with the reverse light hook up, couldn't bring my self to splice my tail light wires after having the truck for about 3 days lol.

Hands down, best LED tailgate light bar is via Custom Dynamics.

Bright as hell, lifetime warranty, and you can specify a version that you splice yourself, or the other (which I got) that has a 4-pin plug into your trailer harness (note newer models have both the 4- and the 7-pin).
