Cool, small world, my parents are in Shaler, which would explain my poor spelling and grammar.

The other windows, while less appealing visually would def. let in more air. Other options might be if youre truck has a rear slider having that open in between the cap and truck, but that would be pretty harsh rad noise wise on you. Maybe putting a 12v outlet back there and putting a fan back there also?

I was wondering if most off you were happy with your colormatch? I have a two tone brown and adobe. I kinda have this urge to go with the to cap match the lower color of adobe. Have any of you seen that and did it look good or cheesy?

I have seen it done on a two tone Red top and tan bottom. The topper was tan, cheesy. My .02

Same here. The first impression, when you see it, is that it's was got off a truck
with a different color.

Yeah, probably so.. It was an idea I had thinking that if the color did not match excactly it would be harder to tell if not side by side.

Thats the one I would like! But I don't live in Wisconsin. That looks like the paint matches well!

Not trying to take over Larrys' thread but there are some things I need to figure out. It seems That Leer, A.R.E and century all put out nice product(have read on here about a guy who had a real bad time with Jason caps). In fact it looks like they all use alot of the same hardware. What I want to get out of a topper is:
1.something that I can camp/sleep in
2. that my dogs ride as much as possible without getting cooked
3. something looks good

I wish I could ride in various side window set ups to see what offered good ventilation. It would seam that the slider would have more ventlation but maybe too much wind drag causing too much noise pollution for dogs. If the suv windows open could ventilate enough, then perfect.

The other window I am interested in is the slider that opens giving access to the bed. Do these hold well to the elements and vibration over the years?

The last thing I wonder about it the front window option of going with the compression boot. The local Jason dealer said they don;t do the boot since they have had problems with the paint of the cab bed getting rubbed off.

Thanks for the input

ok guys, here's my two cents....

last month i orded a leer 100XL for my 2010 screw with a 5.5 box.

i have a dog, who spends most of her time outside, but sleeps inside at night.

anyways, when i was picking a canopy, i was picking the leer, a raider, and ARE.

i picked the leer, for the service, realiablility, and other reasons. my last canopy was on my 2002 dakota. it was a base model and had the 50/50 side tinted windows, with aluminum frame rear window with two twist locks. in 2005, my neighbours lawnmower thew a rock and took out one of my side windows... $140 after tax to repair. but, on the side windows the black paint was peeling. it was pretty noticable because the truck was dodge's version of "sterling grey" and it was sport model with dark grey all over as interior. i had my dog in the back of that truck when i would go around town. anyways, i'd open one window 2/3's the way, but only to help with the air circulation. btw, i lived in a town where it was 38C in the shade with a slight breeze.

in both trucks, i put a big piece of scrap carpet down so my dog didn't cook her paws on the spray in liner, and i was always wanting to try and think of something better for her, but couldn't ever figure something out.

but, i've got that all fixed now.....

with the leer 100XL, i got a few options that the privious owner on my dak didn't have as options.

1) full removable slider cab window
2) tinted windows (70/30 split)
3) thule rails, no full rack tho (saved $450 until i find lights i want to mount on a MOAB basket.
4) kept the AA battery flip switch light
5) 3 plug 12v hub... mounts driver side on the canopy near the "J" clamp.

now, i also went to walmart and got a few extras to save myself money. these are things that i truly love too.

6) 2 12v fans that plug into the 12v plugs. gonna mount them in the windows. tested em out prior to buying them.
7) 12v male to female extension cord for the fan to go on the other side of the canopy. (mounting up and over the hinges)
8) 2 packs of high performance LED lights 24 inches each. while i like the looks of the ones the other member installed, i don't have my canopy lined with carpet because i don't want to have the wet dog smell in it. (just use a brush with car soap, and rince with garden hose)

as for camping and rain.... i am 6'1" with the 5.5 box, i know i'll be angled a bit, but i can also sleep comfortably on the floor in the screw too and the dog can sleep in the box.

the fit of the leer, actually goes right over your factory black plastic rails and you won't notice that they're there.

and if they screw up the PTM, i'll get a fuel cap for the truck so i can have it perfected... after the camping trip.

No love for the Raider caps? My uncle has one on his king ranch and it sure fits pretty nice.

Im just saying... I found more leer dealers than any other.

It seems that all caps have a molding fit... No matter the brand.

Where the canopy smooths over the side of the rails and also folds over the inside of the rail... Like lego.
