So I've been wanting to put some rigid cube lights in the back of my truck because as we all know the stock lights suck. There are numerous threads where they are mounted in the bumper or under the bumper and I just don't really want to go that route. My question is has anyone ever mounted them on the plastic bed rail right behind the cab? I don't think it would look that bad I'm just looking for opinions or photos if anyone has already done this. Thanks in advance.
If you put it near the cab, I don't think it'll provide the light in the right areas for backing up. The rest of the bed will probably block it. It's fine on a back rack when it's higher up and can be aimed down to pass the bed.
But if you really wanted to do it, you can take the bed liner out and bolt the mounting bracket to the bed itself. I'm sure you can cut a piece of metal to slide down the hole and tap to the bed. Then it's just a matter of running wires through the bed.
I mounted it under my hitch receiver. Provides light behind the truck, as well as on the sides. Works great with 20% tinted windows. Plus, I was able to snake a wire up to the brake light to tap into the reverse wire and then just wired in a relay behind the rear bumper.
Nice and clean, and I don't risk damaging them when putting stuff in the bed!
I hear ya. Here are 2 images I just found. I don't like where the f150 ones are mounted on the rear corner but the gm has them mounted by the cab. This gives me somewhat of an idea. I'm really hoping someone here has done this and will have feedback

hmmmmm, I like that a lot. I was toying around with the idea of cubes but they tend to get stolen around my part of the globe (such a shame). I just ordered one, Cant beat it for $13 shipped.
