I think the problem it's where the light a shine. We need to see the ground behind us and the reverse lights are just to high... Those are crazy bright though. :p

Users of the CREE bulbs...do you recommend the bulbs with or without the Plano-Convex lens?

Modular - I bought my off of Ebay from Xbrightstore and wasn't given a choice of convex or not. Maybe that would be the difference between spot and flood type of light disbursement?

Yup, that's why I'm asking. Retro Solutions offers them either way. I want to make sure I pick the right style (flood) lens which I would assume would be the style without the convex lens.

A EricTheOracle; THANK YOU for making that video! You just saved me about $50.00!

I was going to buy the crees after reading about them on here, but not now after seeing that video.

I have solved my problem for the most part with a set of these:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...ecs.htm#photos

They are AWESOME at night. Of course the trade off is they hang down from the bumper, which some will not like. With my truck cap I REALLY need to be able to use my mirrors and camera at night, so im not concerned with the look.

Unfortunately I dropped and broke one of the stock bulbs when I was wiring these up so I will need to buy a new set. I think I will go with a direct halogen replacement, Sylvania Silverstars.

I will take pics at some point, but today have both my kids and am not able to.

I'm trying to find a way of illuminating things while maintaining stock appearance (mostly because I think a snow bank will wipe them out).

Plus, running wire for new electric bits is a spring and summer project for those of s in Minnesota.

I have been considering some aux backup lights myself, but those hang a little low for me. KC has some aux lights that are really slim that I have been considering

Its not the bulb that makes it a flood light, its the lens. The lens scatters the light to create the wide flood pattern. In my post above the auxiliary lights I have are LED floods.

FWIW in regards to auxillary LED's I had a very tough time finding a quality product. Rigid seems to be the standard, but are very pricey. I did not even entertain the idea of Wal Mart or auto store LED fog lights. I am very happy with the light output of the ones I bought.
