I'm thinking about getting a chrome 6 bar XLT grille for my lariat and PTM the the 6 bars lik the Limited. My question is if the Limited grille is actually just a XLT 6 bar grille with painted bars or am I missing something?

I am 99% sure the two grilles are physically the same. Next time I see a LL I'll look closely.

I have the XLT 6 bar grille and I'm considering doing this too.

I've been scouring the net for pics and I'm pretty sure they look identical too. I just need to get my hands on a 6 bar XLT grille. I'm hoping to find one used as opposed to getting a brand new one.

It would look nice but if u do that u kinda forced to do ptm bumpers and door handles and just about anything that's black color keyed

I'm thinking the chrome bumpers would look good still since the grille surround will be chrome. It should still all tie in especially since I've got the lariat chrome package.

I agree with this. It ought to look good on your truck. I have the XTR (XLT chrome package) so we would both have a similar look.

My concern is that I would have to paint my bars gloss black. I'm not sure how well that would show up. It might just look like a chrome ring around a black hole. I'll see if I can find some glossy black electrical tape to mock it up if the 'warm' weather holds. I suppose it won't help you much though.


There is a thread from a while back where a guy painted his six bar grille black and white. It looked good to me. It had a PTM surround, rather than chrome. THAT would look weird with chrome bumpers though.
