I'm looking to buy a used F-150 in the immediate future. I'll be looking at something probably in between a 2011-2013 model year.

Are there any known issues to keep an eye out for in this range of F-150 models? My dad has a 2005 that he is very happy with and I'm coming from a 2004 Explorer that I've been lucky with. It has numerous known issues, starting with a terrible driveline system.

I didn't see anything on the sticky notes and I'm going to poke around on this site as much as I can. If anyone can point me to a specific thread I'd greatly appreciate it!

Variety of issues/common things are ecoboost CAC issues, 5.0l ticking, epas rack, third brake light leak, warped rotors. All of these are the luck of the draw. They're still great trucks.

 

Stay away from 11' ecoboost engine.
Other than that all years have their issues, spend some time searching the 09+ section looking for thread titles.

Those are the issues I have had with mine in the 6mo I have owned it

 

Air conditioning sucks in a lot of trucks. Mines one of them.

 

Excellent truck. Not one issue.

 

AC sucks I've had two F150s and both AC are terrible!!!!

 

There's too much room inside the crew cab models, there's too much power in the Eco and V8 models, it tows too much, too many people have come to realize that they're the best truck out there, it's too comfortable, the 4x4 and E-locker on some models is too easy to use, there are way too many options out there and they grab too much attention.

leaking CHMSL
Shudder
Exploding rear window
Oil diluted by fuel
but those are just on my 2012 ecoboost.
