Default Knocking under load?

Hello Everyone,

Recently became an owner of a 2010 ford f150 with the 4.6 3V with the 6r80 tranny with a 140k miles on it.

I noticed something weird while parking today - when the engine is in park and i rev it, it is smooth, no ticks no knocks can be heard.

when the truck is in gear it sounds like knocking or loud ticking when backing up or going forward, gears are all catches fine, nothing is slipping.

What could the noise be? torque convert? tranny pump? only occurs when in gear and under load.

I do have the truck scheduled to go in for a tranny fluid change this friday but thought maybe something had something similar happen to them and what it was.
