Thumbs up Keys fell between Windshield and Dash

I keep various keys for gates and doors in my rubber storage tray on my dash cover. Last weekend I flailed and threw a set of keys clear over the storage tray and up against the windshield. The keys slid down into the narrow space between windshield and dash cover. THey DID NOT go down the defroster vents.

I tried to fish them out with a bent wire, but they just disappeared back there.

Will the storage tray pop out with normal interior tools? And would I be able to access the area thru tht hole?

Ay suggestions about where stuff like this would end up and how I could get it out?

Did you try one of those telescoping pen magnets to get in there?

Cool. There is a razor blade in mine from when I was scraping off the UAW sticker on the front windshield. I've been too lazy to get it.

I think that link was useful not because it shows how to take the tray out, but it shows it wouldn't get me access to the windshield/firewall area, just the ductwork, so there isn't much point in pulling it. Ill pull the glove compartment and see if that get's me an angle towards the front of the cab.

Sorry, since they were just a couple of shed keys I had a new set made. I did pull various panels, etc but it is so jam packed back there you can't really get to the firewall anyway.

As an outside chance, you might get one of those USB borescopes from Amazon and tape it to a coat hanger. I didn't have one when I did this, but have found it usefull for similar stuff. You could pull the trim near the floor and snake it around back there....
