I've been doing it a while as well. I've had many different setups using brands like B2 audio, RD Audio, Tantric sounds, Digital Designs, Ampere Audio, Atomic Audio, and many I don't remember. I've been doing audio since I was a teen, but I've been doing it right for maybe 7 years. I learned long ago that flea market brands like kicker and JL are way over priced compared to what can be had with some of the brands I mentioned before. I've heard many people say they've been doing audio for a long time, but can't tell me what an isobaric quasi sixth order band pass enclosure is. Or how to correctly wire two amps together to strap them. These are things anyone who's been in audio a while should know off the top of there head.

Not really into pissing contests by using all the terms one can think of, I was simply offering my advise/ opinion on what sounds better in our trucks. People can try it or not try it and be the judge for themselves.... This is a thread about a "flea market" brand sub after all not a competition sound thread.

No problem, I just don't like being dismissed as if I know nothing. There's a thin line between facts and someone passing their own opinion as facts. I guess I read ur opinion as a fact and I apologize. Anyway, what system are you running now?

I didn't mean to come across like that if I did, I'm sure you know your stuff and wasn't trying to dismiss you, just difference of opinion.

You just lumped JL audio in with Kicker and you claim to know something about audio... Not saying they're not proud of their product and don't price it on the higher end, and not saying there aren't smaller names out there making quality competition stuff but.... Wow....

Lol the only reason I "lumped" them together was because that's what the majority of people on this forum run for aftermarket subs. I called them flea market brands because here in Houston, you guessed it, they're available at any flea market.

Fair enough. But they're popular for different reasons. JL recently has been kind of living off their old reputation as being top of the line, but kickers popular because it's an advertised name and they're cheap. Not the same.

I'm personally a big jl fan.... Overpriced? I agree but they have always treated me well.
I had 6 12w6's in my caddy now that would just shake your guts.
Now that I'm all grown up, this 10tw3 is super impressing for how small it is.

I agree with last two posts. JL is good sub, I just don't agree with the price tag.lol For their lower line of subs, Kicker is definitely a good budget sub, I just feel better value can be had.

I'm running a JL Audio tw5 and a 600/1v3 and it sounds amazing. I bought the box on subthump.com for like $150ish. After the first week, my sub busted the box apart and I had to sink some screws into it to hold it together! But it sounds great.
