Default Jack and Jack stands

I was at walmart and I was looking to but a jack and Jack stand but didn't j now exactly what I needed. If I was to lift just one end at a time, would I need a 3 ton jack or because it's just the front I could go with a 2 ton? Also there are 2 ton jack stands with a max height of 16 in or 3 ton jack stand with a max height of 18 in. What stand should I go with? I'm also worked about getting the tires off the ground and getting a jack stand tall enough

Bigger is better! Why skimp for $20 when you will eventually be under 6k lbs?

Do you have a harbor freight close? They make a really nice 2.5 ton rapid pump floor jack. You can always go bigger but I don't think that's necessary. I think mine is a old napa 2ton.

As far as jack stands I think either would do just fine.

Always better to have more tool then the job vs. more job then the tool. Get the bigger jack and stands.

Personally I'd even look for a 5 ton jack.

I use 3 ton stands under my truck and even my Mustang.

Use the 3 ton jack as extra support after positioning the stands.

Can never be too safe being underneath a vehicle. All it takes is one accident and...ker-splat. You're taking a dirt nap.

I picked up a set from Husky with a 3 ton jack, two 3 ton stands, and a decent creeper for around $100 on black Friday. Friend did the same thing last year but it was a Craftsman set.

Do yourself the favor and get the bigger jack and stands. You can always use a bigger jack to do a smaller job. But my original 2 ton jack, just didn't cut it. It would work...... but could hardly get the tires off the ground before it was fully extended.

Looks very compact though, so could be great for in the tool box. Then you wouldn't need to use the stock scissor jack if you get a flat.

Forget about getting them from eBay, go to your nearest Tractor Supply and get them for $39.99 each.
