Default iPhone just started working flawlessly?

I have a 2013 with Nav. My truck has been sitting for about a week as I was driving other vehicles. I jumped into my truck, phone connected, and now all of a sudden the features on my phone I couldnt use before are working!!?? I can have text read to me, I can reply to text, and when im not driving it allows me to read text. Seems most people have not been able to use these features with iphones, what changed? All I can say is I'm a happy camper!

Did you update your iOS during that time? If so what version is your phone using?

I just noticed that when I play music (from the default iPhone Music app) over USB to my 2013 MFT (MyFordTouch) system that I now can control the music from EITHER the MFT interface, or my iPhone 5. I'm guessing this has something to do with the recent iOS 6.1.2 update. The change wouldn't be related to anything different in MFT since I've had the latest MFT version since my truck was build in December 2012 - no updates are available and none have been installed since my purchase.

A month ago I was unable to control the music (select artist, album, song, etc.) from the iPhone when plugged into USB. I could control the music from the MFT touchscreen, but I couldn't do anything from the iPhone since the screen would say something about being controlled from an external device in the Music app.

Now I can control the music from the phone or MFT - I choose the phone since it's easier for me.

You have me curious now. I just put 6.1.2 on my phone the other day. If the voice/text part works I'll be happy. I'll check this out as soon as I get off work.

This is really weird. I have had 6.1.2 and I had problems with connecting but I disconnected my battery and haven't had any problems since then. I would like to know more info as well

I updated to the 6.1.2 a little while ago, but it had no effect on the MFT, until now. I also have the newest software for Nav and MFT. I can also control all the itunes with the MTF head unit as well now. Sounds like Apple finally got there act together and allowed this to work.

I just picked up my 13 FX4 eb last night and have a jailbroken iPhone 5 on 6.1. When I got the truck last night it would not do any texting at all. So I read around on here and found out if you went into bluetooth settings on the phone and select notifications on under sync it would work. I reconnected the phone this morning and tried it. It now gave me a text alert but couldn't read it cause I was driving, so I selected for it to read it to me. Then it said this feature is not available. Then later on this afternoon I tried it again and bam.. it read it to me. I did not try and send a text through the FMT yet, I did however use Siri to send a few texts using the audio and mic from FMT which worked flawless.

For those that can now send texts via MFT voice control, do you find that MFT does a good job at it or do you think Siri is better? I tried to send a text through the MFT but I was talking to it like Siri and I didn't know the exact command for the MFT. I was going to look and see what it was but by that time I was at my destination and forgot to try on my ride home.

Im guessing that means mine is working properly.. just haven't tried sending voice text through MFT.

My truck works with the following on JB 6.1 iP5.
Alerts me of a new text
Lets me read it if not moving
Reads me the text
Lets me view my inbox
Lets me type a text while not moving
