Default Instrument panel issues

Driving home today and the instruments started turning off and on like turning the key off and on. Get warning bells and chimes, battery on display, the check brake system, then traction control, (not is any specific order) dash would go black speedo and tach to 0, truck still ran fine during the whole thing. This went on for most of the 45 minute ride home.

Any one experience this or have ideas what may be causing the problem?

13 ecoboost, truck just turned 78,000 miles.

I had something like this in my truck. It ended up being the ignition switch. Took the dealer and hour to change it out and been great since. Mine would do it even with the engine off and the key in run. I could wiggle the key and make the gauges cut in and out.

Fortunately I videoed it with my phone and gave those to the dealer when I dropped it off this morning.

Tried wiggling the key and using the other key with no change. Also checked the battery and alternator and both checked out ok.

Will let you know what they find out.

I have exact same symptoms on my 2013 ecoboost lariat with 56000 and out of warranty.According on every thing I could find online looked like battery management system problem. But battery is fine alternator good. But power saving mode keep kicking in and shutting everything down to save power. But difference in my case is even if I disconnect o ring sensor from ground cable or dislocate it away from battery still getting msg low batt then power saving mode on navigation then all others codes(advance trac, brake check)than would shut down instrument panel.Engine still running fine but nothing else:no turning signals no powers windows etc. That would go every couple minutes like that on/off.
Last time I have it charged batt.with ground on truck body not on battery so bms would learn charge level. Was fine for couple days and my hopes were soaring high until today.
When same happen today everything was shut off until I got home after short ride 5-7miles.But what I notice now for this prolong time being in that error mode is that heat was on!!??(75f outside)I couldn't even open damn windows.
Hopefully your dealer will find solution for your problem.
Please post back.
Cant wait to hear from you.

Thank You

p.s. baby is up so done this in rush..apologies for any error and confused stream of thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your experience and trying to help.
.Unfortunately my problem is more elusive and i am afraid deeper or complex. My truck turning of instrument cluster and radio deliberately and being nice enough giving me heads up about it msg"power is of to save battery" and then all kind of warnings on and off.
If I ever discover and solve problem will post back here.

Not sure if this will help, but same exact thing happened in my Camry (2007). It wound up being the ABS Actuator. Everything died, but car was running and driving fine.

I know... Ford, Toyota: 2 different systems, but it's worth a look.

Had something similar happen in my Caliber, found two wires from the TIPM (computer) shorted together when it was damp or raining.

Default update

Service adviser called after two days to tell me the issue is with the alternator. The voltage regulator failed and the alternator is in an over voltage state. He said the dash and nav systems shut themselves down in an over voltage situation to protect themselves from damage. Truck had 35 different codes that they had to go through. Alternator was replaced late this Past Friday. After replacement they diiscovered the over voltage took out the PCM, they ordered a New PCM on Tuesday (yesterday) and it has an estimated 5 day delivery. I had to drop off my second key as they need to be reprogrammed once the PCM is in. After that is complete they will check the remaining systems for damage from the problem. Looks like ETA for my Truck will be next Wednesday if all goes well. Forunatley I have an extended warranty since the truck just turned 78k.
I have had countless alternator failures on my personal vehicles and service vehicle fleet with them all dropping to no voltage output, this is the first I have had or heard of that went the other way.

Appreciate and welcome any suggestion and idea so thank you for that guys.Already have planed for weekend to check all grounds for possible rust or bad/loose connection .Now running 3 days without any problems.
Snowsdog1 thank you for update. After reading your last post got scared sh..less ..
Lucky you,you have warranty so if they and up replacing half of truck better for you complete face lift..Agree with you.Either, never heard of that before.Voltage regulator is there to protect battery from over charging.Didn't know that alternator can act like lightning strike if that thingy fails?!
But..who knows..next time when my truck start acting up I will check alternator.Have voltage meter with me nonstop now. But after all I have read so far I am pretty sure that more than one thing can cause all this symptoms and put everything out of whack. So we can have same problem on surface but diff source of problem. At least Im praying that my pcm is ok ..
Keep us posted please.
