Default Installed Ford remote start BC3Z-19G364-A

i got my remote start kit BC3Z-19G364-A from:

http://www.levittownfordsupercenter....lay-p-442.html

this was the easiest install i've ever done. the kit comes with two keys, a module, and a small harness.

the module just zip ties in behind the glove box, basically wherever you want to put it. there's tons of slack in the harness to put it anywhere. the harness plugs in to an empty slot hidden behind the access panel on the passenger side of the dash. if you pop it off and look just below the defroster vent tube that goes to the door, you'll see one connector. the remote start module plugs in to an empty spot just below the other connector. it can only go one way, so even doing it by feel, it was easy.

i've got access to a key machine, so i cut the two keys myself. with the two original keys to the truck, i programmed them as per the instructions in the owner's manual. i now have 4 keys to the truck, two with the remote start button, and two without.

the module will have to be activated by the dealer. they did mine in about 10 minutes and didn't charge for it.

all said and done, i've got about a half hour invested in this install and now have remote start and extra keys. i highly recommend this kit if you're thinking about adding remote start to your trucks. i just wish it was this easy to add it to my Mustang.

edit: i installed on a 2013. the kit is for 2011+

Lightbulb How I Installed the Series 100 Series Remote Start on 2013 F-150 XLT

Thought it might help some people who are looking for this info. I had to search and search to get enough info about getting the job done. So, here's my take on the simple project.

I ordered my BC3Z-19G364-A from Partscheap.com for my 2013 F-150 XLT and paid $184. The kit is very simple. It includes two uncut keys with the integrated transmitters. They look just like my original keys but include the remote start button as well. It also included a single wire, the remote start module, and two zip ties. That's it. No instructions included.

I had read online that I had to connect the remote module to the truck's network and that was done by plugging into a vacant port that happens to be on the Tire Pressure Monitoring System antenna. To find the TPMS antenna, you open the front passenger door and pull out the panel that is normally hidden by the closed door on the right side of the dashboard. The panel has the air duct in it for the side window defrost. Just use that hole as a place to pull and it comes right off. Inside you will see the black air duct, just under that is the TPMS antenna. It has a wire harness plugged in to it. Just under that harness is the empty port where you plug in the wire included in the kit. The end is keyed and will only go in one way. Just snaps in. Then you use the two zip ties to secure the remote start module to the metal support bar that is behind the air bag. You should open the glovebox and let it hang open so you can see up behind the airbag. Obviously, the other end of the wire plugs into the remote start module. It doesn't really matter exactly where you zip tie it, just make sure it is secure so it doesn't rattle. That is the end of the installation. Put the cover back on and you are done.

I took my new key blanks to a local locksmith and had him duplicate the keys from one of my originals. I've heard the dealership will do this for you, but decided just to take care of it. After I had the keys cut and tested them in the truck (would rotate in the lock cylinder), I had to program the truck to recognize them. I followed the procedure in the owner's manual and they programmed in a couple of minutes.

At this point the new keys will start my truck and the remote lock buttons work. But, pressing the remote start button does nothing.

What is left is the dealership must connect their computer to the truck and program the IDS. I don't know what IDS means, but I guess it doesn't matter. It was harder than it should have been to get them to do this. I called 3 dealerships and they all acted like they weren't interested. Maybe because it was such a small job and maybe they didn't want to get involved in something I had done. I think some have no idea what you mean when you tell them you need to have the remote start enabled. I finally just drove to the shop where I bought the truck and said "I need 10 minutes of your time. I need you guys to enable my remote start." The service tech sorta knew what I was talking about. He said he would have to charge $50. That's 1/2 an hour at shop rate. I've read that some people have got it done for free and some had to pay over $100. I was content to pay the $50. I watched the tech as he enabled it. Took him about 60 seconds. He went to the Body Control Module Screen, Security Options, Remote Start, then hit enable. That was it! He unplugged and tested the remote control. It started right up.

Once I got home, I looked in the Setting Menu to see what choices I had. I don't have Auto Climate Air, so I thought it would just run the AC at whatever I had it one before I got out. Turns out, in the menu I can select last used settings or Auto. I selected Auto in the menu. Then, I turned off my AC and shutoff the truck. While sitting in the truck, I remote started it. None of the AC lights came on, but the air did start blowing from the vents at a low speed. What I don't know is if the heat and air will actually adjust itself based on the outside air temp. My gut says it will. This particular day it is about 80F outside and the cabin was already cool so it would seem right to just blow cool air on low. I will have to do more testing to see how it acts if it is really hot or cold in the truck.

Well, that's how it went for me. A great option for $230 spent and a couple of minutes of installation.

If you are wondering, this 100 series kit will have the shortest range of all the kits. The 200 series kit includes an antenna and I think an upgraded alarm module. Also, you can get confirmation at the remote that the truck started. But, it is a separate key fob. I'm willing to sacrifice some range to keep the simple key, but that is your choice. I think the 200 series kit runs about $100 more. Hope this was helpful.

there is one for 09-10, but it's not as easy of an install as the 11+

pretty sure it requires a separate fob for the button too.

Xorak - I have a 2013 Platinum F-150 so it came with remote start however my wifes 2011 Edge Limited did not come with remote start.

On the series 100 remote start does it also turn on the A/C or heat depending on the outside temperature just like the factory installed remote start does?

Also do you have the menu on the dash for the remote start options just like factory?

Thanks

i don't have the automatic climate control. i do know that it will put the A/C on recirc if the temp is over 80 and will turn on floor/vent if it's under 50. otherwise, it will stay at whatever you left it on. however, i'm pretty sure that's just how it works normally for what i've got.

this part is the same remote start module that's installed at the factory, so if you get the other related hardware needed, and your vehicle is compatible, then it might just work out.

How do you know if you have a hood switch or not...
