I did a search but didn't see anything about this already, sorry if there is one and I missed it.
Went to go out with the family and the Information Display on my 2013 FX4 was extremely dim, I mean it looked like it was blacked out. My wife could see a little bit of info from the passenger seat, but not enough to make out what it really said. Drove over to the dealer, since it was on the way, and the service guy and I walked out to it and when i started it up, voila, no problems. I had already tried a few restarts before I left the house, but nothing worked. He said there has been an issue with them blanking out and it could have been like a computer just gets overwhelmed and that could have been it. Either way, it works now after a few restarts, but just curious if anyone else has seen this before. Thanks!

 

I wonder if your lights were on and your dimmer set to low? You can dim the screen when the lights are on. In the day time the screen dimmed to minimum can look very dim I would imagine.

 

I would have thought the same thing and tried every setting with the dimmer and lights switch. It may have been a fluke, who knows. Just have to wait and see if it happens again.
