You can go as far as you want amps, speakers and subs. You just need a food processor like a Rockford 360 or an Audison, at the very least an audio control lc8i it's no different than doing a system with an aftermarket head unit at that point except everything looks factory.

Just depends on how much you want to spend. I replaced my door speakers with Infinity 6832CF speakers and they were a great improvement. I also put some polyfill in the sub box that seamed to help improve that also. So for a total of $120ish it was worth it for the improvement.

I only had base sound in my 14 but I added a kicker substage and kicker ks68 door speakers and it's night and day. There is better but this worked for what I wanted and I'm only in it about $400. Rogel Ford is offering the complete Kicker upgrade right now for 375 shipped.

The Kicker sub is a great upgrade. I had bought that and the cs68 door speakers separately. I put the sub in and it sounded so much better I didn't even install the door speakers. Huge difference. And as stated, Rogel Ford on here has the entire system for $375 shipped. That is a killer deal. I paid $324 shipped just for the sub. Buy the whole system and sell the door speakers if you don't want them. You won't believe the difference with this sub!

I didn't know you could modify the sound system without screwing something up. Very interesting! I know the Alpine sound system in my RAM 1500 Longhorn sounds way better than the Sony in my Limited does. Has someone already done this?

As stated I have the sub. It is a Ford product. You have to splice into the right hand front speaker wires under the passenger sill plate. It bolts right where your factory sub is. You also have to run a power wire up to the engine compartment. There is a thread on here with pics of the install. Fairly straight forward install and a huge difference.

Description of the upgrade system....

Additional Information

Completely integrated with the exhisting Ford audio system using true connector-to-connector wire harnesses.
Consists of a 10-Inch powered subwoofer enclosure driven by a 200 Watt RMS high-efficiency digital sub amplifier.
Four 6 x 8 coaxial door speakers, powered by a 4.1-channel digital signal processing amplifier.
Vehicle Notes: Not For Use with Low Level Radio or SONY Subwoofer System.

The OP says he has the Sony system already. I'm not sure it will work but I'm looking into now.
