Although I LOVE our EB, it seems to suffer worse than other engines I've had with this AWFUL winter gas!!!!
I was getting 18+ in town over the summer without even trying, and now I can't get over 15.5 no matter how hard I try..........I hope that the corn farmers and the US government are proud. This simply CAN'T help our consumption numbers for total barrels of oil................rant just begun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!
So how do farmers have anything to do with the government mandating ethanol? We were growing corn long before ethanol came along and would continue to do so if ethanol went away. We are proud, thanks for noticing.

I run Shell Gold because it's 100% fuel. Awesome mileage. PetroCanada and some others have ethanol in their fuel. Premium fuel does not guarantee ethanol free as some blend ethanol for higher octane.

I don't mean to be down on farmers.....but you are dreaming if you don't think that the farmers have a SIGNIFICANT lobbying effort going on in D.C. to keep ethanol in our gas.....I mean, c'mon!!!!!
And, how much has the price of corn gone up (both at the pump and on the shelf) for the farmers since ethanol was first put in our gas?
The corn farmers are making money hand over fist on this debacle.....

Except they had a big drought this year. A lot of the corn in Ohio isn't worth picking. Now add the hurricane coming with high winds to blow down the corn not picked and it could get even worse.

Your Choice. MTBE or Ethanol.
I prefer Ethanol because it Biodegradable. MTBE not so much. In fact MTBE has contaminated too many aquifers and it's a bad actor chemical. Just ask the folks in California that have shut down numerous wells because of MTBE contamination. Purifying that water is too expensive to be feasible.
I'll spend a little more money for a safer renewable resource that is American made.

You think gas is expensive wait till you see the price of water after we keep contaminating it with chemicals like MTBE.

There's a thing called crop insurance that helps cover things like that. Us livestock producers don't have insurance for things like high input costs and low market prices

Now we're getting off topic

MTBE has been banned as a gas additive since 2007. 2004 in NY an CA. I don't think you have to worry about MTBE making a comeback.
