Hypertech Programmers
Back in the days of ODBI computers, a hard 'chip' would be swapped in by soldering a chip onto the motherboard which would give instructions to the computer ... much like a CMOS chip on a standard home computer.
Vehicles aren't chipped like this anymore. With the introduction of OBDII computers, which are about as powerful as a basic home computer these days, a lot of performance can be 'tuned-in' with these programmers.
Instead of hard coded instructions buirned into a chip, programmers are now utilized to do a lot more than a hard coded chip could do with flexibilty of the user to make choices and decisions.
Programmers are great because you can easily program your vehicle to mediocre, middle-of-the-road, and basic high performance settings for 87, 89, or 91-93 octane fuel.
While these prgrammers or 'tuners' are not professional tuning programs to set fuel trims and more technical professional type tuning settings, they do give you the basics of what is meant to give you substantially better perfomance at a really good value.
'Bang-for-buck', you can't get better overall peformance from any other modifcation for the price.

Ive got an 09 FX4 Super Crew, just installed the reg tune last night. I have the same ping as dpeckford and keith124. It happens just as you press the pedel down, its a faint raddle sound, only last a second or two. I'm going to call hypertech, maybe if enough of use call they will get the ball rolling on a fix, its that or I'm going to return the programmer.

Good luck.

i been on the phone with hypertech all week getting the run around. was told not to worry they will get it fixed. stated they will call back, but never did..
finally i called them again today and after all that run around was told now it will take a few weeks to get it fixed. Guess we will see. after a few weeks go by im sure it will be another few weeks.. they put this chip out too early for 09 f150.. anybody thinking about buying one id wait a few months 1st. ill post any updates to my situation.. someone from hypertech even saw this post and emailed me stating he will help, but havent heard from him since.. i really hope they get this fixed because this programmer is an expiensive paper weight right now.

I dont know what to buy! Is there any good tuners out there yet? I pick up my 2010 FX2 tomorrow and the 22"s will throw off the speedo. Thats the main reason i want a tuner. Only other things i plan to do is a borla muffler and remove the snorkle on the intake.
I installed a max energy programmer on my raptor last week and im pretty happy with the results it really seemed to compliment my AFE stage 2 intake. Ive been running the regular program so far havent tried the premium one yet but plan to in the future. I set everything the same except I took out the top speed limiter and set the shift firmness to 75%. At first didnt mind the firm shifts but driving the truck normally it just made the truck feel to rough for my liking so I put the shift firmness back to stock yesterday. Overall im happy with it but seems like the downshifts are a bit rougher since ive installed the programmer my mileage hasnt really changed to much but I seem to always want drive the truck a bit harder now cause I got more power lol.

With the hypertech tuner there are some setting you set manually such as tire size, shift points, shift firmness, speed limiter, rev limiter.
If you decide on a hypertech I have one for sale in the classifieds yet at a good price.
