Hypertech Programmers
I splurged and got one the Max Energy model, i noticed right away a significant increase on take off, very noticeable and the truck is way more responsive and shifting is smoother. A definite increase in performance and i am satisfied that i got it. I would recommend this to all of the 08-09 f150 enthusiasts as it did put a smile on my face. The one thing that i did not like about the stock settings is the lack of response when accelerating from a stop, but that is now fixed for me.

My 09 Lariat just rolled 6000 miles over the last week. I ordered the Max Energy programmer right after I bought the truck but did not install it until last Thursday (a little over a week ago). I left for vacation last Saturday and reset the trip meter and the mileage calculator when I left. We go to the beach which is about 140 miles from my house. Going down last week with my wife, 2 kids and all of our luggage and gear with the A/C on the whole way and running 55-60 MPH on backroads I averaged 18.8 mpg. On the way back home today we ran interstate most of the way and running with the same load at 70-75 MPH I averaged 19.2 mpg.
The programmer takes about 10 minutes to load and I did pull the Nav/Radio fuse just to be on the safe side. The truck is definitely peppier and the trans shifts much better and doesn't hunt for gears as much. Why Ford's factory programming can't shift this smoothly is beyond me but that alone is worth it to me. I would say that I have gained 1-1.5 mpg overall but that will vary depending on driving styles. By the way, this is on 5.4 liter Supercrew 4x4 with the 3.73 rear end.
I am still holding out for a Gryphon tuner for the '09 and will probably then take the Max Energy and put it on the wife's '08 Expedition (same tuner part number) and put the Gryphon on my truck but I may change my mind over the next few weeks as I run the Hypertech some more. Anyway, for those thinking of getting one, I recommend it as it seems to deliver what it promises as long as you don't expect huge HP increases alone.

I'm holding out for Edge. Just got this from company ...
"We plan to offer a totally new product for your vehicle that is innovative and compliments the great design of the F-150. I do not have an exact date of when this product will be available but would expect it to be out later this year or early next year for your F-150. I will attach a flyer to give you a glimpse into what it has to offer."

Your stock program is stored in the memory of the programmer. You have to keep the unit because of this and the unit can only be used on one vehicle at a time. All programmers are designed this way.
