Dean - your mileage numbers sound very low. I get 13.5 L/100km in 70/30 hwy/city mixed driving hand calculated. Computer shows 18.2 US MPG - my hand calculation works out to about 17.4 US MPG. This is not towing.

Highway, I get 12 L/100km.

Default Hypertech w/E-85 Fuel

I started using the hypertech this week using the premium fuel program with E-85 fuel. The transmission shifts smoother and I have more power in 1 and 2 gears. No mileage numbers until I fill up again.

I splurged and got one the Max Energy model, i noticed right away a significant increase on take off, very noticeable and the truck is way more responsive and shifting is smoother. A definite increase in performance and i am satisfied that i got it. I would recommend this to all of the 08-09 f150 enthusiasts as it did put a smile on my face. The one thing that i did not like about the stock settings is the lack of response when accelerating from a stop, but that is now fixed for me.

Install is simple, just plug into on board diagnostic port under dash. Takes five minutes ! And worth it !

Pretty simple, you update the unit from your pc when you get it, 5 mins then plug it in the port located right below the steering wheel and follow the instructions on the unit, its simple.
Well worth the investment !!

Smile Hypertech and E-85

Have driven a week with Hypertech and E-85 fuel. No change in MPG but shifting is much better and power is wonderful. Better than stock program. I used the premium program last week and have changed to the regular fuel program to see what differences there are. With E-85 octane at 105 you can use either program. So far I get 11 mpg city driving and 13 highway with E-85. My 87 octane gas results are 14 city and 18 highway. This was before the Hypertech was installed.

I will be switching back to gas soon since the price difference between the fuels is about to drop below 25%.

I have noticed that the programmer finds a P1000 DTC that you have to clear but it doesnt show up on my truck. Its the Fuel-air ratio DTC that the programmer is picking up. When the ethanol sensor measures more than 50% ethanol in the fuel the fuel air ratio is changed from 14.7 to around 10-12 and the DTC is ignored by the Ford ECU but picked up by the Hypertech. FYI for anyone that may encounter this.

I'm holding out for Edge. Just got this from company ...

"We plan to offer a totally new product for your vehicle that is innovative and compliments the great design of the F-150. I do not have an exact date of when this product will be available but would expect it to be out later this year or early next year for your F-150. I will attach a flyer to give you a glimpse into what it has to offer."

You guys might talk me into getting a programmer some day.

I'm still concerned about what the long term impacts of changing the programming in these engines is going to be and I still don't quite understand why if it is possible to get better oomph and fuel economy with a programmer then why Ford doesn't change the program themselves.
