HVAC Blower Not Working
Hello All.
Looking for a little bit of assistance resolving a problem with my truck. I have a 2013 For F150 XLT SuperCab with 5.0 L engine, approximately 104,000 KM on the odometer.
Recently the blower fan for the heater stopped turning. I started with a new fuse and a new relay, fan still would not turn. From there, I replaced the blower motor/fan assembly under the glove box, motor still would not work. From there I replaced the resistor, again, no success. Chatted with some technician friends (I am not a technician) and the consensus seemed to be that it must be the control module. I did some research with all of the online and local suppliers I could find (Northern Alberta, Canada) and was informed by everyone, including the Ford dealership, that those control modules are discontinued. I ended up buying an iDatalink K-150 dash kit, an iDatalink Maestro RR programmable module and a BOSS Audio BE7ACP.WX head unit and replacing all the electronic controls... still no luck. I am pretty confident that my workmanship on that was good. The controls on the K-150 light up and the button to turn on the heated mirrors work. The steering wheel controls are all working with the aftermarket stereo (head unit). The lights all come on for the HVAC controls on the K-150. When I adjust the fan speed or the temperature, my stereo shows these adjustments. I can even hear what I believe is the blend door moving when I adjust the controls between defrost, dash vents, etc.
I am at a bit of a loss here about where to go next. I have thrown about $1,500 CAD at this so far and don't feel like I am any further ahead. I do have a multimeter and feel like I need some direction on wiring or other things to check... Any suggestions here would be welcome!

Good Day All
It has been a while since my initial post. Thought I would provide an update.
I did some poking around at the wiring with a friend. We removed the blower motor and connected it directly to the vehicle battery using some spare wiring and found that the motor does work. We rechecked the fuses and the relay. We then tested the two wires to the blower motor and found that the 12V supply was good but that the ground was bad. Ran a jumper wire from the connector 12V supply wire to the motor and then ran a ground from the motor to the chassis and we were able to run the fan that way, but no speed control from the fan. Based on what I have learned, the ground for the blower is controlled by the resistor. I had already replaced the resistor, but potentially I got a bad part. Checked over as much of the wiring as I can see without removing the dash, didn't notice any rubs or pinches. Tried pulling on each of the individual wires in the connector the fan and resistor to see if any were loose. Disconnected all of the connectors and looked for arcing, corrosion, etc and all looked good. Purchased a new resistor and was able to briefly get the blower running again. However, as soon as I fired up the truck, the passenger side mirror started adjusting itself. Eventually after about 30 seconds, maybe a minute, the mirror stopped moving and the fan stopped turning. Removed the resistor and found that it was very hot...
I am wondering if there is a fault in the passenger side mirror wiring that could be causing this issue... I am not sure how those systems are related, but, like I said, the mirror was moving around on it's own while the fan was working. Not long before I started having this problem, I had the passenger side heated mirror glass replaced at the dealership while I had the truck in for a recall letter and an oil change. Could be that they pinched some wire(s) while they were in there replacing that mirror glass? I will be disassembling the mirror soon and hope to find some answers. I have yet another resistor coming. Hoping that I find some sort of an issue in the mirror wiring that I can correct before installing and potentially roasting another resistor.
I will post again once I have looked at the mirror wiring and let you know what I found. In the meantime, if anyone has any helpful advice... I'd appreciate it!
