With 150k miles on it, should I be looking at replacing the 8 coils complete set, or just the 8 boots and springs... Obviously the boots and springs are cheaper but If it is time to replace the coils then that would be the better option

I bought a coil for my ecoboost from CarQuest. Comparing it to the old coil it was replacing it was very obvious it was the same part. The CarQuest part was clearly machined/dremeled to remove the Ford identification marks.

I can certainly understand that. Once upon a time I was helping out a friend with limited funds repair their van, after pulling the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump a 3rd time with after market parts. I told them I can't afford to keep doing this for free and good luck with the last one I installed.

Ok, so update

I bought replacement boots/springs, then ended up ordering MSD Street fire full coils from summit... Planned on returning the boots/springs and going with the full coils since they were only $152 shipped. Well the coils arrived and they accidentally shipped me the ones for the 2 valve 5.4 instead of the 3v, I have a 200 mile drive tomorrow to my shooting competition so I swapped all the boots and springs on the stock coils, idles smoother, seems to run strong, we will see how the mpg is tomorrow after 200 miles of freeway.

I still am wondering though if after 150k miles I should be looking at changing the coils... Or are the boots and springs enough? Thoughts?

So far I have done:
k&n drop in filter
Plugs
New boots and springs on old plugs
Seafoam in tank

I think that is About it for the easy small stuff besides a tuner in an attempt to get it over 10.5 mpg

Anything else, should I do the coils or stick as it

Coils either work or they fail... replace your plugs .. boots and springs.. clean the throttle body and Maf sensor..

Oh I won’t.

im just debating on doing the boots as well most likely gonna do the whole set of coil as 1 has already failed. Weird thing is it bench tested fine but would fail under load.
