Sorry to hear but at least they caught the person.

I've been thinking about trading my truck in after it's out but I spent a LOT of time working on it and love it. I did ask my dealer about Raptors and they're hard to come by but they're getting a black one in this week. Hmmm....
Here's a pic of mine... Doesnt really do justice to the damage; but does give you an idea, at least.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. I usually keep my vehicles for a long time and I'll probably keep this truck for a long time.

Ouch. Luckily there's no frame damage. Hopefully your body shop does good work and it'll look brand new.

That's a pretty hard hit to do that much damage on a Ford truck. Not being a Ford fanboy, these trucks use some serious steel and it takes a lot to do that much damage.

After I dropped off my truck, I stopped by the showroom to wait for my mom to pick me up and was talking to a salesman. 4hrs later, I got my mom a new '12 Fusion SE. Partly so I'll have a car to use while my truck is getting fixed and she needed a new car anyway.

I should have kept my mouth shut in this thread!

I was car 3 in a 4 car pile-up. Everyone's OK, just a hassle to deal with now. Guess I get to find out just how hard it is do get a diminished value claim paid out!

My dealer estimated 1-2k less value now that it's been in an accident (gave me a trade in for 25-26k). I was thinking more like 30k undamaged, so I think we're a bit off to begin with!

Good luck to everyone that's going through the process,
-Matt

I got hit in the rear and pushed me into the car in front. Was nearly $9k in damage. It was fixed by the best body shop in town and they did a good job. I went to a lot where I knew the manager and he wrote out a letter stating if they took my truck in trade that they would offer me $5k less due to the upcoming carfax report. I took that to the lady's insurance company (farmers) and asked for $4k in diminished value. They denied and wanted to do $2k, I countered with $3k and we settled for $2.5k. Kinda pissed me off. Next day, somebody from them on personal injury called and offered me $500 for whiplash (I did go to the emergency room, just a sore neck for a couple weeks). I told them no and the figure needed to be $1500. They gave it to me so I in a way got my $4k I wanted.

Funny thing is, when I traded that truck in like a year later they never did a carfax on it so I got a better trade on it. The accident did show on carfax when I pulled it myself.

You should've asked for $5k on the neck injury. Why do you think they agreed so easily?

I'm in the middle of trying to get a diminished value claim but it doesn't look good since it was a hit and run and my insurance company said that would have to be claimed to the other insurance co. but there isn't one because the bastard ran.

Just got off the phone with a friend that picked up a Raptor a few hours ago. Damn, I need a Raptor now.
