I notice on my buddy's 2009 crew cab the headliner is stained in the back left and right corners and just a little bit in the front corners. He washed his truck often like once a week almost, could that have anything to do with it? He says, oh well it's a ford it's going to rot to pieces(chevy guy). I don't want this to happen in my 2014, is that a common issue?

Just for my piece of mind, I used a small amount of black rtv silicone around my third brake light, sat antenna, and on the pop rivets or screws on that rubber trim on top of the roof. Doesn't take very much and if you're careful, you won't be able to see it. No leaks!

I haven't noticed any staining, but I did notice my rear doors were full of water after a few days of hard rain last year. I also had the bottom rocker behind the rear door rust out. The only thing I can think of is it came from the third brake light.

I had my third brake light leak and stain the left rear of my headliner. Luckily mine was under warranty and the dealer replaced the headliner. the day I got it back I did the same as RCSB and put some RTV around the light and I haven't had an issue since

I've had the 3rd brake light replaced twice due to leaks in my 2010 Lariat. But my really bad leaks came from my moonroof. The track and motor bound up when closing the moonroof, resulting in failure of both. Luckily I still had a couple of months of warranty left. That was in late 2012. Up until a few months ago, every time it rained, I ended up with a puddle on the floor and water stains on the headliner around the moonroof. The dealer tried new seals, new track, multiple adjustments, etc. I lost track of how many times it was in the shop for the leaks. He finally decided to replace the whole glass/seal/track. When he started to remove the old unit, he saw that there was a piece of the track missing. Apparently there was a piece that was supposed to be transferred from the original track to the replacement track. Ever since he put the missing piece back in, no more leaks. He also replaced the headliner at my request.

my 2010 fx2 leaked really bad. i don't know if it was because i removed my 3rd brake light one too many times and messed up the seal, or if the crappy seal wore out on its own. My headliner is stained and it frustrates me to look up there, so i try not to. I used a black silicone from the home depot to create a new seal and haven't had any issues since
