Such anguish and grief Ford is putting us all through! Lol.. I'm reduced to a 95 jeep with a horrid smell. Already sold the GT and the 323i.. hope the jeep will last till then : /

I thought I would pass this along to everyone....today I got a call from a Ford Customer Care rep. and FINALLY got some information. My truck is still sitting in Dearborn, but at least this individual threw me a bone. (which is all I was ever looking for)

The short version of what he explained to me is this: In Jan there were three major transport companies that handled all of the "Big-3" auto makers' deliveries via rail. In early Feb two of those companies went out of business. Ford immediately signed on with the remaining company, but GM and Chrysler balked, and are trying to negotiate with the transport company. This precipitated a strike and there are now picket lines at the rail head in Dearborn. Apparently workers refuse to cross the picket lines of another union.....and as a result, there are only 1-5 rail cars per day of new vehicles being shipped out of Dearborn, when normally there are 100-150 rail cars of new vehicles being shipped out.

The individual I spoke with told me that since I now have a "case number" assigned to my new truck, I would receive periodic phone calls and emails....weekly until movement starts on the truck, and then daily communication once the truck starts to move.
All of that won't make the truck get here any faster, but it was all I was ever looking for in the first place.....just some sort of communication/explanation.

It's too bad that it took 10 emails and 3 phone calls to Ford Customer Care to get it, but some communication is certainly better than none. I also want to mention that the individual I spoke to was great to deal with and talk to......I know I certainly couldn't do his job!

Well, here's hoping I see my new truck by hunting season!

Ordered mine from Overseas Military sales in January. Got a VIN last week with a build date of 11 April. Delivery in the system is still June, but I'm hoping that moves up here soon.

On that note I know the disaster over here in Japan is causing issue in paint availability. Not sure about parts though…

Thanks for the info update, that's more info than my 15 or so calls to ford. (The email didn't do anything ether). You would think that ford would be upfront with the situation and let us know that it a outside union problem and not the fault of ford. (hmm. wonder since the other Co's balked, if they did this on purpose to try to screw ford). Now I have to worry about some people not wanting cross a line to upset anything and bring everything to a grinding halt for months probably over nothing major. You do have to wonder how two of three companies went down with the number of units waiting to be moved.

3/14 Dealer informed me truck was scheduled for production
3/19 Dealer forwarded me the VIN and stated to go into production on 3/28.
3/19 I was able to pull up the window sticker immediately. Blend date of 3/22 and dealer invoice date of 3/15.
3/24 I called FoMo CS and they said the truck was built awaiting transport.
3/30 I called FoMo CS today and she told me the truck was "in transit" with an ETA of 4/4.

1 of 2 things is going on, I'm either having better results with my order OR I'm about to be disappointed. The dealer told me at the beginning 4-6 weeks. The guy who actually puts in the orders for them told me that when he gets a VIN, the truck will be on the yard in 10-14 days. By the way, I'm in Alabama.
Update: Got a call from my dealer a couple of hours ago. My truck is expected on their lot before the end of next week. Not too far off the ETA of 4/4 FoMoCo gave me this past week. Really good considering the order date!

Talked to my dealer today and from the start I was under the impression of 5-8 weeks from time of placing order, Now at 9 weeks. The dealer is indicating that the 8 weeks is not something to go by and I get the feeling that he is thinking of something beyond 12 weeks as he is starting to try to move me onto something else off the lot. Like I ordered the truck I want with the options just to throw away all that and get a basic unit.

I'm really want to head down to dearborn and take things into my own hands since I read about all those lucky ones with the trucks being ordered and delivered within 1.5 months.

Tell me. Is it really worth the wait....

Dan, you'll have to change your avatar.

We almost crossed paths. I was in that dealership after 10am yesterday. Drove an EB. Went to another dealer later and drove another EB. Went back to the first dealer this morning and drove a 5.0. After much hair-pulling, I've decided to go with the 5.0.
