Default How To: Install OEM Remote Start

Hello all! I am new to the forum. I traded in my 7.3L F250, but am happy to have my new F150. Back in the day I made lots of F250 and 7.3L how to videos. I hope to do lots of videos on the F150 as well.

My first task was to add OEM Remote Start. I can't take credit for any of the information I've used in the video, I just assembled it onto YouTube! Hope this helps other people trying to add OEM remote start.

Posting work done by others amounts to plagiarism any way you look at it if you do not also post your sources of information.

I'm sorry you feel that way. No, its not. Its fair use. If I posted your exact work, and took credit, it would be. All I did was reassemble information from several forums into a video while I installed remote start.

You did provide much of the information, and I thank you for that

my only concern is that you linked to the normal remote start but installed the extended cable that is recommended to increase your range and put it over your headliner. most people will struggle trying to figure out why the original cable is too short to reach, the original install location is over the glovebox.

Ok so it's basically unethical behavior. Intellectual property rights and all that.

No, you dont own the rights to Ford's programming. Sorry.
Its no different than me sharing the info in a forum post.

It's a community effort, and that's what a forum is about.
It's a shame that you are against the sharing of information.

The only shame here is you trying to make a name for yourself by others efforts and calling it a compilation without citing your sources.

I did not ride the efforts of others as you are doing. Some call that leaching.

Rnlcomp is right, you should at least cite your sources that you used to compile the video and the sites/threads used.

Thanks for posting the video, a lot of folks have put time into the Forscan app and helping others understand it. I think that's the reason for the tension here. After reading 80 pages of threads I finally was able to figure out what you did in a 4 minute video. That will help others in their quest.

If I knew all of my sources, I would cite them specifically, but I don't. I got most of my information from both F150Forum.com and Ford-Trucks.com. I found a spreadsheet on this forum, but couldnt find its original owner. The spreadsheet is here (http://bit.ly/2i4Byem). I just saw it referred to as "The 2014 spreadsheet."

I am not taking credit for any of the work, just putting it into video form for other people. I found the 100+ page long forum post a bit intimidating, but made it through about 40 or so pages on my own. Unfortunately most of the information is mixed between 09-14 and 15-16, which is why I decided to make a video for 11-14 trucks to set it apart.
