Which homelink model do I have?

The Car2U, from my understanding, only works with fixed code garage door openers. Around 2012 garage door openers started to use rolling codes that change the code at set time intervals to increase home/garage security. Car2U has not released an updated version to be compatible with these new garage door openers while Homelink has, version 4.0 or greater. Car2U and Homelink (versions older than 4.0) will not work with these rolling code garage door openers due to the changing code.

My door opener has rolling codes. Chamberlain started using rolling codes in 1997. In 2005 they changed the frequency and added more frequencies in 2011.

I must be mistaken then. There must have been some major change done in 2011 to garage door openers around 2011 because Homelink models older than that were incompatible with the new openers. I thought that it was the use of rolling codes but that clearly is not the case. Thanks for pointing that out.

Rather than start a new thread and be told I should have searched.
I have 2013 F150 Lariat and the homeljnk site doesn’t list for 2012-2013.
So I emailed them. They tell me I probably have the other brand and call them. LMAO.
I have the home link symbol and only one light.
Glad she works with my Wayne Dalton.
How do companies like this survive.

Mine worked with my Wayne Dalton.
The whole “need a remote” thing doesn’t make it any quicker or easier.
Im trying to figure out how to wire in my exhaust cutout to it. And whether I need the wireless controller

If you have the homelink symbol, then you can find many threads on the challenges of programming it. I added it to my 2013 F-150 and had no issues (and my install looks factory). A good portion of the issues are user-created. Some are range, and a few are incompatibility / units that need to be replaced.
LED lights can also cause issues.

I bought the sun visor off of ebay with the 3 buttons for my 2013, as it did not have the factory installed one. Took off the original visor and installed the one from ebay. Had no problem programming it to my garage door opener, that has rolling codes, and then programmed a 2nd button to work with my wife's garage door opener. No issues with either one.
For the record, I live in Elyria, OH and my wife lives in Mansfield, OH. I'm retired, she is still working. One of these days we will consolidate and have one house.

IDK, I never see anyone talk about this, but Homelink annoys me. I am in the unusual position of having owned 2 2013s, one with each of the systems. Homelink is slow to work EVERY time and that is more hassle to me than fighting with programming once. Which, I don't recall having to fight with programming for either system. But the Car2U worked much better day to day for me.
My wife's Toyota also has Homelink, same slowness. I have to hold the button in for many seconds to get it to send a signal. And if I am too quick, that button stops working for several more seconds, maybe half a minute.

I had homelink in my dodge and it worked **most of the time. My 2013 F150 has the Car2U. I have a 2 year old set of chamberlain door openers and tey are not compatible with the Car2U. I have to get the stupid *** adapter. not too pleased so for the last 4 months I have just used the chamberlain app and my phone whenever i get home.
