Default Which homelink model do I have?

I have a 2013 F150 with factory installed homelink in my truck. I am buying new garage door openers for my house and need to know if my homelink will be compatible with the new openers. Many of the new openers are only compatable with homelink 4 and not the older models. So does anyone know what model homelink I have in my truck or how I can verify which model I have? My homelink currently works with my ~15 year old Genie garage door openers.

My 2013 has a stupid *** Car2U system. Check the manual and make sure it's actually a Homelink. My Liftmasters worked with my Homelink in my 2014, but not with my Car2U crap. They make adapters for the motor, plug and play as well.

I have checked the owners manual and indeed it is a Homelink but the owner's manual fails to specify which version/model it is. I might have to buy the repeater but I would rather save the money if possible

I had to get both repeaters because my wife had Homelink and I've got the Car2U in my 2011 F150. I know one of them sent it to me for free and the other was like $25. I really want to say Homelink sent it for free when I called. So you might want to give them a call and see. Neither company asked what model / version remote I have so that's a first. I think you only need to know if it's a rolling code opener or not.

Damn that sucks. I'll have to give homelink a call tomorrow and see if they'll send it. My current garage door opener that I have but is broken, Genie, works with my F150. In 2012 most car manufacturers started putting the newest version of Homelink (4.0) in new cars but some manufactures lagged behind and I was wondering if Ford lagged behind in their trucks or did it on time. The new version of Homelink is supposed to be compatible with new garage door openers that use rolling codes.

From what I remember the majority of manufactures didn't have anything ready. Even though the garage door opener manufactures let them know years in advance...

I just got off the phone with Homelink and this is what they said to me on the phone and in an accompanying email:

"As we discussed: Your F-150 should have hoimelink 4.0 or newer being that it is a 2013 vehicle. If you have one LED with th hous symbpol that is Homelink, otherwise if there are three buttons and three LEDs you have Lear Car2U. If you get a fast flash when training that is a sign that your Homelink is compatible with Secure Encrypted Code technology of newer openers."
He also told me that 2013 was a transition period from Car2U to Homelink in F150s and that Homelink was rather uncommon in this model year. But if a 2013 has Homelink it is most likely version 4.0 or newer. On Homelink's website it stated that Homelink was only available for 2010 and older / 2014 and newer, there was no information for 2011-2013 and that these model years had Car2U.

I have contacted Ford directly and they would not verify which version of Homelink was installed on my truck. The Ford customer service associate told me to call my stealership because they should know and/or call Homelink to see which version I have. I called my dealer and the service department told me that they didn't have any information on that, no surprise, and transferred me to sales to see if they would know! I am really unsatisfied with the service from Ford here especially by the Ford customer service. I do not understand how my truck manufacturer could not give me information on which version of Homelink they installed in my truck. Fortunately, Homelink was able to provide me with an answer albeit not 100% confident in their answer but more information than Ford has provided.

I will install the new garage door opener, most likely a Chamberlain, and post my success/failure for other 2013 F150 owners that have Homelink in their truck instead of Car2U.

The Car2U, from my understanding, only works with fixed code garage door openers. Around 2012 garage door openers started to use rolling codes that change the code at set time intervals to increase home/garage security. Car2U has not released an updated version to be compatible with these new garage door openers while Homelink has, version 4.0 or greater. Car2U and Homelink (versions older than 4.0) will not work with these rolling code garage door openers due to the changing code.

After installing my new Chamberlain garage door opener yesterday I was able to successfully program Homelink in my truck to the Chamberlain opener. My truck was built in October 2013 so any 2013 F150 with a factory installed Homelink probably has version 4.0 or greater which is compatible with newer garage door openers that use a rolling code.

If anyone has a 2013 F150 with Homelink please post your success/failure of programming your Homelink with a newer garage door opener that uses a rolling code in order to inform other 2013 F150 owners that have Homelink and are unsure if they have the newer or older version.
