Default Highway Cruiser

Is your ride a highway cruiser giving you the best gas mileage possible and a very comfortable ride? Now is your chance to post what works and what doesn't work for cruising the highways and byways. Forget about lift kits and big tires, we are looking for primarily street trucks. I just picked up my new 2013 F150 FX4 and we will be touring the country the next couple of years and I want to hear from you about your truck and while your at it, post a picture of your highway cruiser.

Eco 2wd with 3.15 gears is where it's at. Just don't spool up the turbos.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I have a 2" level with 34.1" Toyo all terrains and can still pull 21mpg highway. The key: speed. Keeping your speed under 70mph works wonders for your mileage. My mileage tanks past 70. Must stay out of the turbos. Also, run Shell V-Power fuel in your truck. I swear by that stuff.

To maximize your mileage, get Michelin LTX M/S2 low-rolling resistance tires. Highest mpg I saw with those tires was 26.1mpg running V-power, 0.30 gap spark-plugs and an SCT tune. Sit back, relax, put some music and enjoy the ride! These trucks are fantastic highway companions. I drove mine 1500 miles in 21 hours and was never uncomfortable other than a sweaty back on hot leather seats (not cooled).

Thanks HardCoreFXFour - I do like the look a leveled out F150, is there any truth that it will lower your MPG?

It would be extremely unlikely that just a level would lower MPG. It's heavier tires that deplete mileage..Mine hasn't seen that much of a decrease even with the tires.

Leveling will make a change in MPG but not enough for you to notice. You have a bigger variation between which gas station you use.

I have a 13 EcoBoost FX4 SCrew. I have to drive at least 45 minutes to school each way. I can get 19-20 highway and 16-17 town. I'm on the stock 20's(changing that) but not doing any leveling or lifting. I love that engine is really all I can say

Mine sees mostly highway, not much city at all. I run a super crew crew with Eco and 3.73 rear end I get 14.5L/100km at 115km/hr

My 2013 is mostly a highway cruiser. I work at home but take my son to daycare which is about a 35 mile round trip. Generally do about 70-75 and get around 18, maybe 20 on a good day. Lots of road construction so it's hard to maintain a steady speed. First thing I did off the lot was switch out the Pirellis to LTX M/S2s - great tire as noted above. Great in the snow too.

With all the complaints on the Pirelli's, I'm glad mine came with the Bridgestone's
