I've got the blue flame metallic. I wanted to have a slight blue tint to the light but I didn't wanna go too dark. I was iffy on what to order.

I'm new to this hold customizing your truck deal. What is meant by projector? Is it just that little sphere you see inside hid heads? And would it be better to get a pair of those and install the hid kit with that?

Ya HID's in the stock housing really aren't as bad as a lot of people make them out to be. As long as you aim them correctly they are fine. Here's my old truck with Xetronics Digital HID's in them and I rarely got flashed and when I did I can't really blame it on the lights rather the truck being on 40" Toyos and 14" of lift
Thanks Nick. That's a pretty sweet looking set up you got there. Looks like you did the fogs too. Debating whether or not to do mine.

There is a little circular slot on top of each headlight housing where you put a
Phillips screwdriver to turn them up or down. It explains it better in the manual. Was new info to me as well.

The projector is the little magnifying looking lens. This directs the light output. You can buy a retro kit for around $350 if you want to do your own or you can ship off your stock housings and have them done anywhere from $700 and up.

If you want a slight blue tint go with a good 8000k kit. I bought my 8000k heads and fogs from www.ztechid.com. Im just using the stock housing no need to spend lots of $$$ on projectors

Looks good, but why are the Ztechid kits 3 times as expensive as the equivalent DDM kits? Are they that much better (in quality or performance)? (I'm not alleging Ztechid are overpriced, I'm just asking out of ignorance.)

They are a little more expensive but also much better IMO. My buddy had a DDM kit with slim ballasts and had lots of problems. They cost $60 a set and it showed big time. 8000k look like police lights they were so blue and they flickered like crazy when he drove.

Would a retro throw light better? Sure but at 10x the cost, I will stick with my PnP kit that looks and works fine without blinding people.
I'm not sure how people can say the light isn't scattered when all you see is a bright white fireball in my opinion regardless if there is a cutoff as it's just blinding to oncoming traffic. In a true HID projector lense you don't see a huge blinding light unless you look directly at the projector itself.

I'm all for being able to see but I'm still not certain of putting in HIDs in factory housings.

HID's run cooler that halogen, I have them in four cars in my house now all different vehicles with varying brightness and not one issue. Been using them for years in stock housing no issues.

Here's a HID video for comparison, I have the 10000k
