Default Hid headlights

IF I'm upgrading to hids would I need to get the bi xenon h13 bulbs or the hi/lo h13 bulbs? I was thinking hi/lo...

Hi.

PnP in stock housings are a downgrade, not an upgrade:

You need something like this: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...l#.U4NGk9JdVog

To answer the question, both are fine.

Bi-zenon is the actual name vs the high/lo

MGD is correct though in that a retro is great.

Make sure you don't go above 6000k or it will be too blue and will be even worse for output.

I was looking at some 55w 6000k lights, I have hids in already with Anzo projector headlights and the light output is terrible..bought the truck wig them already in so not sure what color they are but I'm guessing 8000k 35 watt is why they are so dull

That's why you need to stay 6000k or lower.

Alright I'm going to talk about something I'm clueless about but hear me out... are the high and low bulbs not separated in aftermarket headlamps? Might make buying hids a little more difficult. Also with 55w you need to take heat into consideration.

your correct, in his application he needs 2 seperate bulbs not a high/low bulb. Since the high side of his headlight doesnt have projector, he needs to go with a regular bulb in that socket. On his low side he can put a hid bulb. As far as the heat goes im not sure.

In proper retrofits that aren't, it's one bulb in a glass projector designed for HID, when in low there is a shield that creates a cutoff so it doesn't blind drivers, on high a small motor flips the shield out of the way and the full power of the light will emit.

On headlights like spyder and recons they usually have one projector which is usually plastic and not made for HIDs and the. A second spot for a high halogen bulb.

The first is a proper retrofit with glass projector designed for HIDs.

The second is Spyder headlights and you can see the separate high and lows.
