Default Hi everyone

My name is Tom, and I've recently upgraded my 2000 F150 SuperCab with 240k miles with a 2013 F150 SuperCrew 5.0L with 30k miles.

I'm looking for the best combination of new intake and exhaust to add a little more zip to my new ride. I'm currently trying out a K&N CAI kit and debating whether to add a new muffler or a complete catback system.

Forget the CAI. Recommend the cat back. Use the saved CAI money to buy a tuner.

Moved to 2009 - 2014.

Howdy.

Leave the factory intake alone - it already outflows the needs of yer (stock) engine.

As fer the exhaust - realize that, unlike the '08's and older, the newer trucks all have very good, drone-free, free-flowing straight-through mufflers and larger mandrel-bent exhaust tubing. No catback will improve on that - only the sound will change.

Hence - if yer after a tonal change only - or bragging rights - go fer it - just don't expect any gains. And be careful - some systems will actually hurt low-end grunt (the baffled ones that reduce flow velocity).

Save ye $$$ fer a custom-tuned SCT flash programmer. e.g X4.

Yup, a tuner will give you the best "Bang for the Buck" for sure. I have an SCT Livewire. I have custom tunes from 5* and MPT. I have a 6.2 thou. For exhaust, yea, a muffler is all sound. A catback may give you a little increase. But if you want to do the exhaust (and have the COIN), Go with long tube headers and a complete system. I went with the Stainless Works Long Tube headers and exhaust. It was pricey, but worth it.

avoid the bogus CAIs, and avoid the double bogus K&Ns. Go stock with paper filter. Better all the way 'round.

Spend your bucks on a tuner. An exhaust will add 10-ish hps on a EcoBoost. Not sure about the 5.0h.
