Default Help with vibration 75-80mph...

Since buying this truck I really havent been on the highway much. I plan to get the tires balanced today. 70 or under is fine but over that and it feels like its gonna shake off the road.. if I hit hte brakes at this speed the whole truck starts to vibrate REALLY bad. Original brakes and I have pads and new rotors on the way. I had seen others talking about a 75mph vibration but no one mentions if it gets worse when they brake like mine. Thx for any help.

Out of round rotors can cause your symptoms easily.

Even the rolling vibration without any brake pressure applied? I mean at 122K and the fact it gets FAR FAR worse when I hit the brakes it makes me think it's brake related but then I found all these threads about wobble at 75-80mph and lots of ppl having it makes me worried. I just bought this truck.. im out of funds for repairs as the brakes soaked it up. I need it smooth up to 80 for long trips etc.

"get part # AL3Z-6068-B" is one thing I was told to look at if I can't resolve it with tires and rotors. Apparently the Raptor mount fixes the problem but will add more vibration at idle since it appears to be more solid. I plan to do the obvious first... Tire rotation and balance plus new rotors and pads on front... ill turn the rear rotors and throw on new pads also.

Have you noticed the size of our rotors? Yes if it's out of round, it will also likely be out of balance and shake even when not applying the brakes. Rotors and drums are balanced from the manufacturer, sometimes those weights get slung off.

Ok, doing my brake job this weekend.. new rotors up front and I will turn the rears down.

Also read this... I plan to try all the FREE stuff I can before I start spending money. The brakes were already a given they needed to be done.

Agree with RNL, sounds like a rotor issue to me. Especially since it gets worse when braking and the fact that you just had your tires balanced.

They had not been balanced yet. I got the balance done just now and its GOOD! 80mph and smooth.. I guess ive had such bad lucky lately I just thought the worst but my Discount has a new lazer balance system my buddy works there he said its bad azz and the shop dumped 300K into getting them. It's a truck I dont expect a ride like a caddy and now its very acceptable.

Does it still shake when braking? Glad you got the problem solved

Ya still shakes on braking... 122K original brakes and pads I kinda figured that is the issue when braking. The Hawk LTS pads showed up last night and the Stoptech slotted rotors come in today. My buddy I got it from gave me some Rear brake pads Wagner something or other. I plan to just turn the rear rotors for now and slap the Wagners on the back. If I recall most braking is done with the fronts. Slowly but surely this truck is getting better. I stll have to figure out the rough idle issue. I hope its not valve coking.
